"For some, summer camp is a refuge from the rigors of daily life and school. For the estimated 1 in 500 significantly gender nonconforming or transgender children, escaping the trappings of everyday life and societal judgment can be life-changing.

That's why the families of gender nonconforming youth joined forces nine years ago to create a summer camp-like experience where their loved ones could feel free to explore their authentic selves. Photographer Lindsay Morris, who first attended eight years ago with a loved one, documented this exploration over the course of several years. The result is a beautiful photo series titled "You Are You.""

Cute pictures but it seemed like their only pictures of kids on the feminine end of the spectrum, maybe that's the majority of the campers but it would be cool to see a little variation.

I honestly couldn't tell if anyone was born male or female at that age group, so for me it was hard to grasp much out of the pictures other then cute kids having fun.

Yeah I know, I guess I just figured if they were born female and at a gender non conforming camp to be themselves they'd probably not be dressing like a typical girl. But maybe I'm just making assumptions. They looked like they were having a great time and I loved the photos. Just seemed like it was entirely kids expressing themselves femininely. I know nothing of the camp or the group of kids she was with though.
