Legislation will be introduced in Congress on Thursday to amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other federal laws to protect LGBT people from discrimination, The Advocate has learned.

...
A copy of the proposed legislation, widely circulated among LGBT and other progressive organizations and obtained by The Advocate, show that The Equality Act would include protections in public accommodations, public education, employment, housing, federal funding, jury service, legal protections, and credit. The bill would also clarify that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act cannot be used to defend discrimination against LGBT people.

The big fear, and my fear too is that hard-line Republicans will gut the bill or work to kill the bill. Maybe this should go under Activism, but once the Bill is introduced, please contact your legislators and let them know you want this bill passed. That is, if you want to see it passed, other wise don't do anything. JMHO.

Yes, it is unlikely to pass, but if we keep on keeping on. There were quite a few girls here like myself that identified as Republican. With Caitlyn Jenner identifying as Republican, let's let our representatives know we are out here - transgender and Republican.

"However, the Republicans control both chambers of Congress, and last year they blocked the Employment Non-Discrimination Act from coming to a vote – and it is likely they will do so again."

Yep, winning hearts and minds again, GOP.  Gotta love it.
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

I pray for a miracle but I know that the republicans will not let this pass.

I have always voted republican but no more if they block this.  I will vote democratic from then on and honestly they really can't afford to lose votes.

Well I think it's great the bill at least got introduced, even if I'm with all of you in seriously doubting that it will manage to pass.

I guess ya never know though, maybe Caitlyn coming out and identifying publicly as R changed some hearts and minds or they think it'll help their team in the upcoming elections or something. Stranger things have happened! I just won't hold my breath is all :p

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
