I don't want to be negative, but it might be worse than that. He wont' be around to monitor you and adjust your dosages, so he might either refuse to start you altogether, or just give you a really low dose.
Perhaps you can see a normal doctor for a while if the endo get you started and gives you some kind of plan.
With medications I generally ask for as large a prescription as they are prepared to give me. Its only a bit of paper and free until I use it. I also ask what the maximum safe dosages are, how to tell if something is going wrong, how to adjust it, etc.
