The outfit is not offensive, Asumptions that the're saying cait is a monster is. And un-fortunately without enough effort to suggest the cait costume is adding another hero, It will run to the default of "adding a monster" or "villian".
I mean, Imagin this advert
We see, Somebody in a wonder woman outfit, then a bat-man, then super man, iron man, cat woman Thor.....Then we see a ciat costume, The actor looks to the camara and says, "WHO's YOUR HERO?" The actors with the other suits walk into shot, along with the real jenner,
And then, Across the line the actors say,
BECAUSE - Said By Wonder woman
THER'S - Said By Batman
MORE - Said By Superman
THEN - Said By Iron man
JUST - Said By Cat woman
MONSTERS - Said By Thor
TO CHOOSE FROM - Said By Jenner.
Now how many of us, would still be offended having seen the intention to promote this posotive image?
I think, that without making Intentions absoloutly clear what side of trans acceptence they intend to market, people are left to draw their own opinions as to why this outfit exsists. And it is this that is causing the controversy.
Is it a slight, or an honor?
Remember, it is a cait outfit, not a transgender outfit. And just as people somtimes dress up as a superhero for haloween, People also dress up as their favourite singers, and sports personalities.
The company says? they see cait as a hero and are honored to enter cait into a line of real life heros? Have you seen any advertising towards this costume, or just been made awear of its exsistance?
Next.. IS their any marketing? What opinion does that seem to give if any?
Now, without any advertising, it is a realy bad idea. but with aprpriate marketing, this outfit could be a realy good idea.
