MOREHEAD, Ky. — A federal appeals court has upheld a ruling ordering a Kentucky county clerk to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis objects to same-sex marriage for religious reasons. She stopped issuing marriage licenses the day after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned state bans on same-sex marriage.

It's about time. Maybe Ms. Davis will get it through her head that if you are hired to do a civil, secular job, you can claim that you can't do it because of religious objection. But there is precedent being set where companies permit Muslim clerks have someone else record pork of liquor sales in grocery stores.

The precedent doesn't apply. The ruling said that the State couldn't discriminate. As the county clerk she represented the state and said that neither she, or her staff could issue the license. Not at all the same as a single staff in a private business having an issue. I wouldn't worry.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

I'd be curious to know who is paying her legal bills. Is it the clerk's office? Is she paying out of pocket? Or is she getting outside money?

That, Suzi, is an excellent question.

According to this story in the New York Times, Ms. Davis could take her appeal to the Supreme Court "as early as Thursday." Today, in other words...
