HRT or laser first?

I've seen some mixed messages regarding the influence of HRT on laser hair removal. Someone on here said that HRT makes the hairs thinner and lighter, and thus less vulnerable to laser. But I've also read that testosterone makes hairs more resilient to laser. (I'd love to know how that works on a cellular level!) So should laser be done before or after starting HRT? Any advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

All I can tell you is the advice I got from my leaser removal doctor, was to start leaser first then HRT.  The hair does get thinner as he said, it's easier.  I was in laser treatment for months before I started HRT and that worked pretty well for me.

I started laser before HRT, and it was better I believe due to the fact that as I was using an APL laser, my now light blonde body hair is not as responsive at all.

I would say laser first, especially if you still have to wait for HRT. That way you can get a bit ahead of the game.

Ask yourself if you can wait the months and years it takes for HRT to affect hair, or if you want it gone tomorrow?

Laser kills all the actively growing hairs, and they stay gone for weeks (like 6 weeks for facial hair).  So, once they fall out over the course of 1-2 weeks, you are hair free.  And when they do come back, they are much lighter and finer each time.  After 1-1.5 years of treatments (every 8 weeks), they're all gone, forever... while HRT is variable.

If you have the money (or can get assistance from your health insurance), laser is the only option in my book.

I have been told it really depends on what you have to start with. My face hair is blonde to start and darkens with length. So laser will have some effect but I will be destined to electrolysis. So HRT is when I can get it.

Thanks for the input, everyone! We seem to have reached consensus. :-) And yes, obviously the most important factor is that I can start laser NOW, while I'm not even entirely certain I want HRT. I just didn't want to spend all that money in vain if HRT was required for a successful outcome. Doesn't sound like that's the case, so I've scheduled my first session. :-D

My therapist recommended starting laser before HRT, so that's what I plan on doing. Consider that another tally in the laser column.
