hi
we always hear that herbs like ( red clover ,  wild yam , Fenugreek , Black Cohosh , Saw Palmetto etc )

help the effects of the estrogen and the anti androgen in mtf trans pre op and support the feminine changes

do anyone here use it or know someone who use them with hrt
is it effective as they say or just waste of money ?1

thanks  :)

I myself and a few girls I know have gotten results with herbs but most of them are a total waste at best or dangerous at worst.  The right herbs and dosages are key.  Do your research first and asking a doctor for their opinion might not be a bad idea

I'd be a bit careful when on hrt.
Some supplements contain phytoestrogens, which have a weaker effect on estro receptors than estrogen.
Those are not of advantage then when there is enough estrogen already available.

I saw results in a month or two.  Can't tell you herbs or doses due to site policy.  If you want to send me a pm I might be able to point you in the right direction to do your own research.  I am not at liberty to name any plants though.  Sorry hun

I tried the herbal route years ago when I first started transitioning, decided it was a waste of time and money

Please consult a doctor for proper care

I am another who tried the herbals back in the early 90s for months and found they were not doing anything for me.  Finding medical or mental health assistance was a lot more difficult for most of us then.  There seem to be many ways to receive medically supervised HRT and I certainly recommend it.  It works for me ;D

HRT is best but there is one herb out there that can work amazingly well and did for me, I was on my way to a b cup and developing curves, soft skin, all of it.  HRT took it to a whole other level though on fat redistribution and mental and emotional changes.

For me it gave me the control I needed while I worked through the gatekeeper mentalities and it helped keep me sane and gave me the confidence to take the HRT plunge.

Definitely one herb that works. Oriah helped me with my homework, thanks, hon!  :)  As stated, do your homework, check with a doctor, and be smart.

I got here with all supplements, I've never spent a minute on HRT

Can't even hide 'em in boy mode anymore!  ;D

Good luck!

Hugs, Devlyn

No problem sweetie.  You've gotten me back about ten times over.  I'm glad I could help you.  You look great Dev!  And thank you for everything

I began reading and studying herbs, spices, foods containing phyto-estrogens (1981).  I took classes conducted by professional practising herbalists.  I spoke and consulted with experts.  I asked questions.  I learned the pro and con to each item before trying it.  I learned what worked and what did not work to my personal body chemistry.

Different items have different issues and different levels of effectiveness and side-effects.  Yes - use caution with any item you choose - some can have serious consequences, some might very well be useless to your body chemistry.

I have experienced periods when I was off ERT for times between endocrinologists due to moving to a new geographical location, changing doctors, un-employed and lack of funds to pay for medical appointments.

My phyto-e choices proved quite effective.  I was recently off meds approximately 13 months and went on phyto-e as an alternative.  When I resumed my medical appointments, my first estrogen lab results were within 'low normal' before resuming ERT.  My endo resumed ERT and I went off phyto-e; my latest estrogen lab results are slightly higher and within 'normal'.  This is strictly my experience and may not be for anyone else.

Here's to repeat the caveat - consult with a professional and know what you are doing.  Agreed, it is best to work with your practising physician.  Always reveal and discuss all your consumables, even something apparently innocuous as a daily vitamin pill - those, too can have consequences in your over-all health.  You doctor asks you about these at your appointments for this reason.  This is your life at stake and there can be times when you are better to do nothing than risk everything.
