I'm with you.... I live in Washington (USA), and it has been awful hot. I live in the PNW because I love rain and cool! What the hell!

I've resorted to "light binding" with a sports bra, which doesn't really work but at least I'm not going to die of heat.

I'm a Washingtonian too =O I agree, this weather's been rediculously hot. This is WA, it's SUPPOSED to be overcast and cool, not hell. But yeah it sure makes binding uncomfortable... I've only been able to bind for a little while because I already have a bad heat tolerance, so binding doesn't always make things better, so sport bras it's been for me as well mostly. That and my binder hasn't been working as well as  I wish it did... why the heck does one boob bind better than the other in this binder?
They're just a necessary evil until they no longer are an issue, I guess...

Can't wait till the day I get these lumps removed...

Oh my god, I'm visiting DC and I almost blacked out while jogging in my binder. This is some oppressive bs. I'm at the point where I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth it. :')

Welcome to the world of binders!  Now do it for 15-20 years like I did!   ;D

captains, I would strongly suggest using a tight sports bra for exercise.

@Bimmer Guy

Oh, trust me, I've learned my lesson. I used to work out in a loser binder, but that was always in an air conditioned space. Running 5k in this heat w/ something squeezing my chest? Hell no.

... actually: funny story, that binder snafu is how I came out to my dad. He's a triathalete, and we were working out together when he saw me wheezing and clawing at my chest. "What was wrong?: Well, dad, see, I wear this chest compressor thingy. "Why?" Um, ...aesthetics? "Why?" There's something I've been meaning to tell you...

I've been binding for 7 years so far already, you've thought I'd've learnt by now that I will boil.

I noticed your profile said age 17.  I can't believe you started binding at 10 years old!  Wow, my friend, that is some serious dysphoria.  How long will you have to wait until you can get surgery?

Yeah I hated my chest and it had started developing pretty early. Everything developed far far far too early, it was hell. I mean, I had one year of wearing a bra until I started using less than savoury methods to try and hide the evil things (but it didn't work very well) and it was only a few years ago that my mum found out and got me proper binders.

I guess judging from everyone else I should be glad I'm in England!

I'm on the NHS so anything surgical I'm not even allowed to talk about until I am transferred into adult services. And judging by how long everything has taken so far on the NHS, it looks like I will be binding well into my mid 20s. Which is incredibly disheartening.

Is there any way you could save enough money and then go private?  That is a thing, right?  For people to pay themselves?  Or do you have to go outside the UK to the U.S. or somewhere else to get it done?

I am so poor I can barely afford to eat, so going private is never going to happen, unfortunately. :(

Hey man,

I've been dealing with the same issue lately. It's been hot because of the summertime but I find that even when most other people are feeling comfortable inside, I am still sweating.

My advice is to find a thin undershirt (fruit of the loom, hanes, etc.) and wear it as a normal shirt. No one is able to tell that it is really an undershirt and they're super cheap and will help keep you a little cooler than a thicker t-shirt. They usually come in a few different colors (black, grey, white, brown, etc) so as long as you don't mind dressing a little plainly, you should be good to go.

Best,

Escher

I get hot all the time since I started T (that was never a thing before--I was always the person wearing a sweater in the summer because I was cold), and that has made binding abject misery this summer. I hope to god I can manage to get top surgery over with by the spring because I don't think I can take another summer.
