To be perfectly honest I don't like the styles that woman in my age bracket wear. I've seen woman my age wear what I like , but there is definitely a difference in the styles I wear. I really just buy off the clearance rack at Target . I buy mostly dresses. It seems to me there is a pretty wide range of styles and it's just when you get really up there in age that there is a big difference. I wouldn't wear a mini skit it's really not my style, but dresses I have no problem with. It might be a pent up desire to try to get some of those missing years back , but I think I look all right in dresses . How do you feel about widening the range a bit.

It seems to me there are two broad fashion looks these days, pre and post 20ish. Or, putting it another way, stick figure vs a normal human. Beyond that I can't define "Age Appropriate"  in terms other then it not looking right.

TBH - I like girlie girl. Most of the time I wear a skirt or dress. A big part of this is also how this 6ft tall bear tries to look as unambiguously female as possible. There was a time I didn't do casual. These days as my self confidence is far better, I do do casual. Usually avoiding "Mom" jeans 

I like to look classy and mature. Today I went out to a function wearing all light tan ... pumps, stockings, and a lovely flowing dress shirt with splits up the sides.

When I dress up nicely, the message I want to convey is 'I am dignified'.

Then it's just a matter of controlling my potty mouth :~D

Well, I'm not dressing like a 14 year old... and I'm not dressing like a 74 year old...

I guess I go with what I like the look of and can afford.

I dress like a 14 year old on some days and like a 50 year old on others. At work I dress age appropriate.

I switch it up and nobody seems to care. I still get carded at the liquor store anyway.

I get mixed messages from the people around me. Mostly it is complements on my fashion sense but I also get some "that's not age appropriate" (mostly from my girlfriend).  I think some of the criticism is an effort to keep me from looking too good. I love wearing nice dresses and skirt/blouse combos to work. Sometimes they are short which really shows off my legs (I have recieved a lot of complements on them).  I also like wearing shorts on the weekends. I do not want to be seen as old and frumpy. Also, because I look younger than I am, I think I can get away with wearing some things that are a little more daring.

I am not going to lie... at 35 I have a wide range of options. I do like to stand out a bit. Speciality shops, vintage clothing stores, and cocktail dresses make up 95% of my wardrobe. I keep a few pair of jeans, sweatshirts, and capris for a change of pace. Casual just really isn't me. I am in love with the 40s/50s/60s. When going out to diner or the movies was an occasion to dress up. Maybe a little romanticized, but they had some amazing style and class.

If you're not dead, have some fun with it. Variety is the spice of life.

Ooohhhh, this is one I struggle with on a daily basis. There are things that I have longed to wear my entire life that realistically are not appropriate for a 46 year old woman. I do try to stick with things that are appropriate for my age. I am fortunate to have a job where I can wear jeans to work, which make my fashion choices much easier than if I were required to dress professionally. As much as I would like to wear a dress, I've never been able to find a dress I like and I think looks good on me. I have a long torso and short legs, separates are a much better choice for me.

I like dresses just above the knee , its really the only things I buy except for skinny jeans. I live in a downtown area of a somewhat wealthy suburb and the woman my age have money , but the clothes they wear I just can't see myself in , so I stick with the off the rack clearance. There are older set fashions on the racks , but my hands just wont move in that direction. I just feel a lot more comfortable with the casual dresses and someday when there is some money some really nice stuff. The thing is that I see woman my age and older dress the way I do , but also the college kids do with the just above the knee ones.

I am with Harley on this one. I spent 38 years of my life as a man. Dressing like a man, acting like a man. I want to embrace that femininity and wear clothes that make me feel that way. I want to dress classy. I want to stand out.

I will never get to a point where I will be some kind of fashion pro, but the idea of spending the time and effort to but together a wardrobe that makes me feel sexy and classy, is what I am looking forward to the most. And I am wearing it for me, not anyone else. I want to look in the mirror and see the woman I want to be. Clothes don't make the woman, but it sure is he'll fun to shop for them

Older girl here! I don't like to stand out.  Dresses don't really work for me.  I like jean skirts, I own a dozen different, that hit at the knee.  Conservative shoes with 11/2 inch heel max-just enough to get the gluts engaged.  I reserve my tops for expressing my femininity.  I love soft, flowey, blousey tops.  Often with matching jewelry pieces.  Now for my own satisfaction, it is what I wear under it all that brings a smile to my face.  I think it is quite age appropriate with a hint of "she ain't dead yet!" 

I would say I do venture into the age appropriate bracket. But in the essence that age brackets are merely a maturity bracket. Likewise the roles of dressing would probably classify as cute, conservative, flirtatious, skimpy, just naming a few, I would say there are dozens more classification of it all.
I generally dress in skinny jeans and a mid cut v neck or tank top, sometimes paired with a button up. I have my share of full length skirts that I also wear paired with the  mid cut v necks. As well as a few knee length cute skirts which would of course be paired with leggings or stockings as well as the same tops.
I have a rather small wardrobe that has interchangeable wear as per tops and bottoms able to match up fairly well together.
As well as my work wardrobe being all having to be uniform khaki pants and navy top, I have a few polos and a few button ups that actually work with my body, as well as some female khakis that were hard as all heck to find, especially in my size and body shape.

Don't really have a problem with clothes. Ok, I don't have enough  Skirts are all around knee length and I NEVER wear heels. Love fitted tops or lovely cardies. I used to hate having limited options. Now I have lots.

im the opposite of everyone here. I'm 17 years old and I dress like someone's grandmother.

Yeah, in my early transition I loved to push to envelope. Tiny skirts and tops and all that.

Nowadays I feel that's a bit of a bad look. I don't want to encourage people to perceive me as a trollop. Also - to be honest, back then I was compensating. So now its classy all the way ...

Most of the time I dress slob. Mans T shirt with printing, sweat shirt, short or long pants and tennis shoes. This is the uniform for work where I am in the weather and don't know how dirty/greasy I will get.
On the other hand, if I want to look nice, I wear conservative office wear consisting of better quality clothes. Skirts are knee length or longer and all blouses have sleeves and conservative necklines. Pretty much my outfits could be worn by any age group but younger women would only wear what I wear in a business environment.

Hey, I miss an entire proper childhood, it is okay to get some relief.

For the most part I wear what's normal for my age group. There isn't much difference between 30 and upper 40's for the most part. I'm 45 and most people guess me to be in the mid to upper 30's and I feel like I'm in my late 20's.

I'm self employed and hired a lot by governmental institutions to develop websites and do project management. So as a man, I had to wear suits. Before I started transitioning I was crossdressing, but these clothes cannot be worn in a professional setting (except *ahem* another profession). So I'm normalizing my wardrobe right now and buying dresses like these.

It's difficult... I'd like to dress like the secretary, but have to project my role into what I wear.

I make a effort to dress to my body rather than some sorta age thing. with my shape. or lack of it tight cloths are right out, and having all my weight still in my stomach makes pants hopeless, so its skirts (all loose and swishy) and tops that might be a bit tight up top but are looser in the middle area.

I also like things that are not even like ones cut longer on one side or something. I hate how small my wardrobe is right now but between funds and my hopes that my body shape/weight will change in the next year or two I don't want to get too much. (plus half of what I buy dose not fit and there is never a bigger size in anything I like)
