Freya originates from Scandinavian mythology, but it really became my name after I started writing a fantasy novel for a school project. At the time, I was still in denial, so I started out with a male main character. A few days later, I thought "This is going nowhere if I don't have a female main character". I ended up having the new female protagonist and the old male one to be twins. The thing is, like many beginning writers, I sort of wrote the protagonist into an author avatar. However, which one of the two main characters was the author avatar? It was unclear at first, but later on, my writing style improved, and I rewrote them both into having their own personalities. But that female protagonist was still closer to me than any of the other characters.
And guess what her name was.
