TheQuestion

So I'm at a little over 5 months on HRT now.  I feel that I'm beginning to look increasingly androgynous, which I suppose is good.  Other people seem to think that as well.  I really can't put my finger on it, but I feel like my face is looking different.  I'm pretty sure my skin has gotten softer and my eyes seem like they maybe a bit more "open."  Yet, I can't really say much has happened.  I do think I look different, but I don't know how.  I'm kind of worried by that tbh.  It would be nice if I could definitively say how I look different, maybe that would imply I've had major results, but I don't know.  I know a little over 5 month is still pretty early, but I almost feel like I should be seeing something more definitive or noticeable at this point.  Have people found they've gone through "spurts" after a certain point?  I guess 5 months is too early to really see too much, but I tend to worry regardless.

Anyway, thanks in advance people...

Well.  I was sort of told once that I couldn't mention my doses on here and had my posts deleted, so I'll PM them to you if you'd like.  I was on a real low dose for the first month, then had it doubled again the second month and it was again doubled and I've been there for the last few.  I'm looking about 10 years younger than I am which is nice, and I sort of feel is a indication that my face is looking different.  I've had breast buds since week 7 too and they've gotten bigger, but still can only be felt, not so much in being visual.  Still pretty much buds I guess.  I sort of have a woman's face anyway and just always look younger, so I'm a bit worried I'm just imagining facial changes when it could only be hair removal.

Wow, I feel the same way. I've been on HRT for 6 months. Just had the 6 month mark pass 5 days ago. I have felt the exact same way about myself. I notice facial changes, but I can't be certain of anything. My dosage was just increased slightly as well because my testosterone is still a little higher than the normal female range. I'm also doing laser hair removal on my face, so it's hard to tell if that is all the change really is. I will say that with just a little makeup (eyes mostly) I can be mistaken for female if I don't talk. Maybe when I get a bit more confidence I'll upload a pic or avatar pic.

6 months is the tipping point for a lot of people.

That said it's always YMMV.

I'm at month 9 now.

The face changes are usually the apple of the cheeks getting more plump, your face in general being slightly rounder, jaw narrowing due to chewing muscle atrophy and "muscle moustache" diminishing. There are also ocular changes and your skin tends to become softer and more refined. Also if you've had laser or electrolysis this effect is enhanced since hair roots tend to add bulk.

Yeah, I haven't gotten my levels tested, that will probably be next week.  I haven't used makeup or got dressed in general since starting HRT.  I'm just saving myself I guess, for a few more months down the line.

I didn't used to dress at all or wear makeup. I thought I looked ridiculous. I also didn't want my coworkers and customers to stare at me. About 6 weeks ago I couldn't take it anymore and I started wearing women's pants and a button up shirt that is definitely cut for women but people that don't pay attention to detail probably wouldn't notice. I also started wearing mascara which helped with my confidence. At first I was petrified by it and always thought all eyes were on me. I now just plain don't care as much. I'm not about to go out in a dress or skirt just yet, but I have a feeling it won't be too long before my first full outing. I feel like things are starting to get better than they have ever been in the last 19 years of my life (I'm 28 now). With patients I believe anything may be possible.

Yeah, from what I was told by people around here and in my life I guess I passed pretty well before HRT.  I'm still skeptical though and I'm really pulling for changes on HRT.  Aside from driving around and going to my therapist I never actually went out dressed.  I recently turned 27, and I probably won't be "going out" in public for 2-2 1/2 years or so.  I partially think things are getting better myself.  I've been pretty bummed about this since I was about 3 or 4, basically as long as I can remember.  I'm just kind of skeptical and sometimes wonder if people are just being nice in telling me I'll likely pass well.  Just trying to stay positive I suppose.  Good luck with the next few months.

Posting dosages on the forum is not allowed. Posting to PM dosages on the forum is not allowed. I understand some here are new members so I put terms of service #8 below. HRT needs to be administered and monitored by a doctor so the patient is safe and remains healthy.

Terms of Service #8

8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:A. You may not advocate for or against a specific medication or combinations of medication for personal gain. This is strictly prohibited.
B. You may not discuss the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription. The discussion of self medication without a doctor's supervision is prohibited.
C. The posting of recommended, or actual dosages, is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.
We cannot in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

Well, constantly taken photo to keep track the change of your body is a good way to see how much change you got along you first few years of transition. I use to do that, I take the photo of each part of my body once a month with the same spot same angle and I write down the measurement. Then after time you put it together you will see how much you change.

O M G.  I think I forgot to update everyone on this, so I'll post it here.

After 2.5 months of HRT, I started having trouble with my glasses prescription.  I had to sit like 6 feet away from my computer monitor at work just to be able to comfortably read what was on the screen, and then my arms wouldn't reach the keyboard!

So I went to the eye doctor and got checked out.  Turns out my eyes had IMPROVED by 20-25%.  My prescriptions dropped from -3.75 Right and -3.0 Left to -3.0 Right and -2.25 Left!  Yay estrogen!  At this rate, I won't need glasses in another year, hehe.
