I've been having a few symptoms of stress lately... mainly insomnia which is causing headaches and dizziness... I told my dad about the headaches and dizziness, so this time he actually made an appointment for me to go to my doctor. Again.
The doctor said that I was brave to come and see him at all about this really, which was nice. I do think that he understands to an extent what I was trying to get across to him, and he said things like "you've clearly given this a lot of thought", which is very true. I explained that I'm really not in a position to talk to my parents right now. He was sympathetic and all, and he said that he'd see if the system could make an exception for me to see the counsellor they have there, which ordinarily requires parental consent or being over 16. Well, it's only 4 months until I'm 16 anyway, but right now that seems like absolutely forever. It's getting really hard to cope with this now. The doctor did say he'd try, and without being too optimistic, I think I might just be one of the exceptions. Apparently he needs to consult the counsellor about whether that's possible, so I need to call him next Tuesday to find out...

...*Fingers crossed*...

That's great, Steven. And good for you for being candid with the doctor. So many people aren't, about many things, which compromises their health care.

Stress can be really damaging Steven :(  As Dennis has said its good you have been able to tell your Doctor your situation.

I know it must be extremely difficult (I could not imagine my 16 year old self even beigiinning to approach my parents about somthing so personal ) yet is it possible to discuss this with your Mum or Dad?  They would be aware already that somthing was wrong & would be worrying.

Hang in there Steven :)   its not good to be in the position you are in at your age.  But always remember, you are not alone - there are very knowledgable & caring people who can help & support you :)

My thoughts & prayers are with ya

Hello Steven,

That's great news about the doctor, he does seem sympathetic to your predicament.  Stress can be a killer if not handled properly, but given your age I don't see that as a problem at the moment.  The important part is that you are under the care of a doctor.  The doctor seems pretty good as well, especially him thinking that you are brave, as it would indicate that he understands your situation.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand that time thing - I know that many of us have experienced or are experiencing your need to get things going.  Let me just say that your venture is life changing so don't rush into it.  Slow and steady is the best way to go as it will give you time to evaluate, plan, prepare, and just generally think things through before jumping into them.  Remember that many of the decisions that you make and their effects are irreversible.  If you have to wait four months for something then so be it.  You will find that you will be waiting for many things that you wish would happen tomorrow.  Trust me, just be patient and it will happen.

Chat later,

Steph

Steven, stress can be your worst nightmare really. not only the lack of sleep but panic attacks which can cause real life health issues. I face them every day, they are not pretty. You have done the right thing and it is good that the doctor has been so understanding and I dont see that there will be a problem for you with getting to see the counsellor.

To make you smile I found this little gif image. It is cute and is meant to take your mind off how you are feeling, if only for a little while.

HUGS,

Sara.

Meh, I phoned him but he left already... so he'll phone me back tomorrow.

Oh, the joys of phone-tag. ::)

... Hour Later ...

EDIT: Dr. just called back just now and said it's okay to see the counsellor, so I just have to drop a form off tomorrow and then I'll get contacted. AWESOMENESS. Heh, this is the only good GID related news I've ever got. ;D ;D ;D
