"The tape of the private Edmonton Catholic School Board meeting is grainy but the words said by the Catholic priest are, at least to one woman, rather clear.

"Children are given many opportunities as they progress and grow in life," says Father Dean Dowle, as the mother of a seven-year-old transgender girl sits across from him, discussing her daughter's gender transition and how the Edmonton Catholic Board is — or is not — going to accommodate it."

Hmm. There's an idea. I wonder if the right discipline could turn people away from ... say ... bigotry if applied at an early age.

There was a time, maybe not so long ago, where such a comment might be excused as ignorant, but nevertheless well meaning.  That time is past.  The information is readily available and free for any honest person to read and learn.

The priest is either incredibly stupid or simply evil, putting the maintenance of his dogma above the well being of a member of his flock.

It's all those so called spiritual leaders who have taught me the real truth about a loving God who cares and have made me ex-catholic, ex-christian,  and almost atheist.

Its just that these aren't Christ's teachings or his words. He words are simple and come straight from his mouth right off the pages of the new testament for all to read. Simple truth , love.

Hmmmm, spanking the child to make them not transgender... that's a novel idea. Thanks Father Dowle. It will probably work as well as conversion therapy, which has been outlawed in your country. I can't believe a mother sits down with a tribunal of priests to try to work out accomodations for her transgender daughter and winds up with the Spanish Inquisition. Who would have expected?

But remember, "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!" Pain will make them convert - or Die.

With all the information about ->-bleeped-<- today, you think they would have tried to approach the situation with more compassion rather than religious bigotry. But hey, didn't the Pope compare transgender people to atomic weapons?
