Hiya all,

I saw my shrink today and good news is he referred me to see a Dr for HRT treatment.  Im guessing this doctor specialises in trans peoples health.  It was a little scary looking at the list of possible side effects like gale stones, blood clots, heart problems and so forth.

Also the doctor said using HRT will lower my life expectancy which is sad too.

He said my testes would shrink to the size of peas quite quickly, and possible impotence too.  I have mixed feeling about the impotence(dont really care for the balls) as I do like intimacy and ermm some self relaxation I should say.

I was a bit depressed  when he said it was best to start HRT in 6 months time as i'm jetting off on business and would be not under the care of a doctor as i would be over seas for 3 months.  That's sucks big time.

Do you think I should risk taking meds when Im over seas?

Think about it. What is the sensible answer? BTW, who will be doing your blood tests overseas?

 :o  :D

I know is ridiculous but I thought about looking into getting a doctor in the UK as that is where I would be based for 3 months.

I guess i waited so long makes no difference waiting a little longer

If you are going to be here for three months then it is not really enough time to get anything done. By the time you get registered with a doctor, get baseline bloods done, get your general health checked then assessed for HRT you will be on the airplane home again. It would be different if you were staying for a year. No doctor will treat you without first assessing your general health and even then they would want you referred to a specialist for diagnosis.

If you will be 40 then, you are (to all intents and purposes) 40 now. Don't panic :)

sounds like your doc was exaggerating a bit as far as peas go. Women have a higher life expectancy than men. You should be fine taking hrt while travelling, just if its long flights look into DVT prevention. I think they give everyone special socks on planes anyway?

congrats, 6 months will go fast enough
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

Well its up to you.

I'd concentrate on the positive sides...
there are side effects with many meds...

Usually they start out slow so the dose is upped during a few months.
You might talk to your endo about doing it really slow.

There might be emotional side effects... like being more given to emotions...

As said its up to you.

How are you doing on everything else beside HRT, like facial hair removal?

Hi everyone thanks for listening. :D

I shouldn't get too frustrated as I'm sure the time will pass quickly.  I'm happy to be moving forward.

The facial hair removal went pretty well.  I don't really have much of it left to be honest.  The cheeks are hair free - i never shave there any more, same with just under my chin and neck(i hated shaving there before!).

The only place i really have facial hair is on my top lip and goatee area.  I left that for the time being as I did get some looks at work over the facial hair business.  I will probably zap the rest when i am taking hormones.  I would say  I would probably be 3 sessions away from being free of facial hair for good.

Im starting to get funny looks at work with the longer hair and the hairfree cheeks LOL
Probably people gossip but to be honest at the moment I don't really care.
