Just got my dressings officially off today! Feels so great to have them free!

Anyway the surgeon didn't really say anything about care other than maybe using moisturiser after a shower?

I really want this to go well so I was hoping to get advice of what you guys did with your nipples as after care!

What kind of products did you use, how often etc?

ALSO when showering should I be careful around the nipple or can I just wet and wash it like I used to?

As an afterthought, what kind of products and care should I use on my scars, and how often should I change the medical tape stuff that's over them?

Thanks in advance!

This is all largely down to personal preference. If you look in the scar care threads, you'll see everyone has different opinions on it.

I showered facing away from the water for basically a month, and didn't really scrub the chest area for the same amount of time. Just gently went over everything with a loofah and regular body wash. Dry off gently as well. What I put on them depended on what stage I felt they were at. If they were still obviously healing, I put Neosporin on and let it air dry before I got dressed. Later when they looked less "fresh", I'd use coconut oil.

I use coconut oil on my incisions currently. I stopped covering them with any kind of tape/bandage as soon as the original one came off. I've tried the scar strips and didn't feel like they were doing much for me. I also realized that I don't really care how they look. I'll probably finish off the box of strips that my mom bought, but I don't anticipate trying out anything else.

wow, that sucks. here's the post op care i got from dr. medalie! i'll be four weeks post op tomorrow and everything is going smoothly. the only thing i've done differently is i'm still keeping my nipples covered because they're raw and i can't have them against my shirt just yet. at this point i'm using 'ouchless' bandaids. i also put on antibiotic cream wherever it looks irritated, whether it be my nipples or my incisions.

Thanks guys! This helps a lot :)
I did notice my nipples were looking a little dry so I tried some paw paw ointment (didn't have any coconut oil)

I might take a leaf out of your book palexander when it comes to keeping the nipples covered. My shirts against them feels a little weird/bad!

I continued to cover mine with Xeroform and neosporin for about 3-4 weeks. After that I've just been using neosprorin and cocoa butter. Haven't had to cover them or anything.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

I had to cover my nipples with gauze and Neosporin type ointment. Till all the scabs were off. One nip is ugly ones real pretty.
