So I'm almost 20 months post op and I hate where my nipples are on my chest. They're a correct distance from my scars. But my scars are above the bottom of my pectorals. I'd like them 1-2 inches lower then they are now. Putting them centered on my scars. Can this be done? or rather has this been done?

Also only my right nipple is really worth saving. So I was thinking maybe have them removed and tattooed on. I know people have their nipples removed as a body modification but thats different as their nipples aren't just skin grafts sitting on top.

My situation is a little bit different. My doctor uses a pedicle method so it's not as much a skin graft as it maintains the main pedicle of the nipple and areola.

The left side healed weird and the scar line and the nipple/areola were pulled up and toward center by scar tissue. It was pretty off looking. My surgeon was able to (under local anesthetic) open things back up, clear out some of the scar tissue and reposition the nipple in the right spot. It is about an inch to an inch and a half from where it originally healed.

So I do think it can be done. I think repositioning may make them more at risk for losing them if they don't connect up to the blood supply again. I'm sure a plastic surgeon would be able to present you with what options you have, though.

I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone having them relocated. I think there'd be multiple concerns: removing them from their blood supply, re-establishing the blood supply in the new position, and repairing the cosmetics of the site they were removed from.

BUT, those are all the same concerns that come up in the initial procedure as well. And in the case of nipple death, I'm sure they do something to remove the failed graft so that you can pursue medical tattooing.

It doesn't hurt to ask your surgeon and get a second opinion from another surgeon. Worst answer you'll get is no. I'd be surprised if it absolutely could not be done.
