I was sure that I would be able to find this somewhere in this forum, but I could not. :( So I'll ask. I'm sure it's different for different places/people, but how much does T generally cost and for how long? Thanks! (I'm from America; Illinois if we're being specific.)

It depending which country you are from. In Scandinavia T and op are free, if the gender therapist give you the diagnose. But you have to belong to the country to get free treatment.

Lucky! I'm from America, and I don't think they do that here. :(

I get a 10mL vial, and I want to say it's around 60$? I can't remember exactly because it's been a little while since I got it refilled, and my online receipts only list my copay and not the actual price like the paper receipts do. The vial lasts about 4 months. I just got a new pack of 6 needles and 6 syringes the other day, which came to exactly 1$. Sharps containers are about 8$ if I remember correctly.

I'm in the U.S., California specifically.

I'm in Wisconsin. I will say that if your state does not require a script to get syringes, it can be much cheaper to order them from a medical supply company. I get a box of 100 for around $20. Even with weekly injections, that should last you almost 2 years. I also get a 10 ml vial from a large national retail pharmacy. It is about 80 bucks. Since my hysterectomy, this lasts me about 7 months.

If you are paying out of pocket (without insurance covering) I would recommend calling around. I found a whole range of cost from 200+ at one retailer to 80 where I ended up. A little research will go a very long ways.

I highly recommend the 10 ML vials because the 1ml vials are annoying to refill. Mine was $100 but it lasts longer.

I get 10ml vials for $50-60 (sometimes as low as 45) and that lasts me technically 5 months, but I tend to be able to get out enough for it to last slightly longer. It's like $120 normally but if you look on GoodRX you can get coupons for your area for certain pharmacies.
1 ml vials are also an option, however, for me those were going to be $20-30 each, so it was a LOT more expensive and I would have to refill often.
Needles are really cheap from pharmacies, but I just got some in bulk online- 100 of them for like $20 or something, maybe even less. There's lots of medical supply sites or even some vet sites where you can get them. I went this route because my needle size is constantly out of stock around here, and I was tired of running out. But if you have an easier size (most IM needles for example) then pharmacies are probably easier than searching for good prices online.
As for a sharps container, you can buy one or you can use thick plastic bottles with screw caps- thick enough that needles wont poke through it or anything. Right now I'm using a big apple juice container. It's free- just my trash otherwise- but sharps containers aren't too expensive if you prefer that. Though I find them difficult to find, all my pharmacies don't sell them, I always have to hunt around.

A month supply of T runs me about $1, and I'm not too sure about needles and syringes.

I noticed most of the posts are covering the prices for syringes, but does anyone know how much T costs when it comes to pills, or is the price generally the same?

For reference, I'm also from California.

I don't think pills are available in the US? They're very hard on the liver, and I haven't heard of anyone being on them.

I know you're after prices in the US, but I think listing prices for other countries could help people in those countries as well.

If choosing to go with the injections, other costs are incurred such as alcohol wipes, sharps containers, band-aids and spare needles in the event of a botched injection (initial site hit a vein, accidentally touched the needle somewhere other than the injection site).

Prices are in Australian Dollars/AUD unless otherwise mentioned.

Primoteston Depot x3 injections: $29.69 Private Script, six weeks worth. Purchased from a Pharmacy Warehouse.
Sharps container 1.4L: $9.49
Alcohol wipes x200 pieces:  $6.99
Band aids x40 pieces: $4.49 Pricing varies between brand, type and size. I went for fabric "Elasoplast" band aids.

Not listed: Spare needles as I have yet to purchase any. Costs seem to vary anywhere between $5.00 and $20.00, for packs of 100 needles. I also didn't list syringes as Primoteston comes pre-filled in a syringe.

I don't know much about other methods of T application, however my doc suggested either Primoteston or Testogel. I personally went for the injections as I am horrible with remembering something that I need to apply twice a week, and I'd rather not risk accidentally contaminating someone else with T. Anyway, below is the cost for Testogel.

Testogel x30 sachets: $92.39 Private script, thirty days worth. Price obtained from a Pharmacy Warehouse.

I knew gel would be more expensive, but I didn't think it'd be triple the cost of injections.

If you live in Colorado and you make less than the cut off for Medicaid I'd definitely recommend you sign up for it. You gotta go through a prior authorization with your doctor but once that's cleared it's 1$ for any type of medication. Testosterone included!

I have never hear of FTMs using pills. Even when I was transitioning they were on injections while we took pills. Coming to this web site I was a bit surprised the MTFs were using injections as well.

I might've accidentally mixed up MTFs using pills with FTMs then. Oops. ^^;
Sorry for the confusion then.

My vial of Testosterone is 100 mL and I'm on per week. The vial of T by itself costs somewhere are $92. I go to a smaller independent pharmacist so it probably costs me more than Walmart's pharmacy, but my pharmacist gives me my syringes cheap because he knows me.

CareSource doesn't cover any transition therapies so I pay out of pocket, unfortunately.

A 10ml bottle costs me $45 Canadian and lasts me ten weeks. I can't remember how much the rest of it cost me because a friend and I split the cost for all the syringes and needles and whatnot. It wasn't much.

Mod Edit- No dosages please.
