I'm asking for opinions/ input on breast enhancement.
Are the options for silicone/fake breasts a bad idea
I know it's expensive, if your unwilling to "grow" your own us this such a bad idea?
Is it frowned upon in the Transgender community?

While I grew my own, I didn't do a very good job of it. A long time ago I decided against BA for several reasons. They can and do leak and when they to, they need surgical intervention. The body will try to encapsulate the implant and unless the capsule is regularly broke the implant will be come very firm. The process of breaking the capsule is somewhat painful. If you decide to grow your own, the implant will have to be adjusted or removed. That's why the grown your own shouldn't consider BA until many years on hormones. I am not sure a BA breast would have the same sensual feel that a grow your own would.

That said, women to have BA after a breast removal for cancer and are very happy with the results so it can be done and the results are good.

In the end, there are tradeoffs and you need to decide if the possible problems are worth it to you. I decided I was comfortable with small breast but that is a personal decision and not one of the community.

Your wise and thoughtful responses are always appreciated.
In time I would love to have A/ small B breasts. That size looks great to me when I view myself in mirror.
I'm meeting a endocrinologist soon to discuss some of my future, I'm torn because of my TRT therapy, I'm not sure I want to give that up.

Hi -  There's no clear answer here, except that waiting to have BA leaves you more options and less risk, no matter how you view that risk.

A gg takes several years for her breast development to complete.  I haven't had BA and over 10 years later I'm a large B/small C, and I'm happy.  However, I must have asked myself the question almost daily whether to have BA or not.  Same with FFS, but I'm in the middle of that inquiry again/again/again . . . Sooo, like a lot of my natural sisters I'm hooked by Madison Ave's clamor for me to be the more perfect woman that they know I want/need to be.  I hear them now, "Come Rachel, come - enjoy, spend, and oh, did I say spend?!

It's not all about the money, but the the beauty industry (the so called keepers of the "beauty" flame) are in business for the same reason Goldman Sacks, Exxon, Piggly Wiggly, etc. are - to make a buck!  Your decisions and all us girls' decisions about the body beautiful are as much about filling someone's piggy bank as it is about legitimate concerns about appearance, decorum and taste UNLESS we are careful not to let the sirens of beauty beguile us to be in their perfect images.

This does not diminish your concerns/needs/dreams; the trick is to be sure you satisfy yours, not theirs.  All that said, there's nothing wrong with a little hedonistic extravagance either.  Sometimes jewelry and shoes just follow me home for no reason I can remember.     AND OF COURSE, if BA will make you feel better about yourself, then go for it!

Take good care my dear and remember that you are already beautiful,

Welcome to womanhood . . .

Hi Chrissy,

Its your body, and your idea of beauty is all thats important.

The the decision to get breast augmentation is yours alone. I would not worry about being frowned upon.

Check with your doctor as to safety and reliability and calculate the risk/rewards. All I can say is that to me it appears technology has advanced in the area.

I made the decision early to get breast augmentation and I am so very VERY happy with them, My wife has had them for a lot longer than myself and is also very happy

If the shell splits they can leak, mine are Cohesive Gel implants with a consistency much like giant gummy bear, any leakage does not go around the body. They may need replacing once a decade or so.

I'm not going to sugar coat the fact they are unbelievably painful for the first 7 days ( at least under muscle with the Transaxillary incision point )

One tip that I am lectured on every time I visit my transgender friends here in Thailand is that you must massage them twice a day to keep them soft and reduce the risk of any Capsular contracture

if you havn't been long on HRT you might want to watch for further uneven natural breast growth, obviously if the BA was done after this, each implant size could be adjusted to compensate.

Personally I love being able to buy a dress cut for a little cleavage and be able to wear it well, ahh my idea of beautiful ;)

I hope that is helpful to you

Taylor's got it, there, Chrissy. The best advice I've seen is not to have BA until you've been on HRT for several years, at least because you don't know how much growth you'll get from the hormones. Once you start HRT your breasts can grow for as long as a young woman's does-- often from about the ages of 13 to 19 or so. I've run into a number of trans ladies who got implants too early and ended up much larger than they would have liked to have been.
