So took something of a step last week

Last Thursday I went out in public dressed in female clothing and make-up for the first time. It was at night and I drove to a city about 30 miles from me so I wouldn't have to risk the awkwardness of bumping into someone I know. Even then my sister had to convince me to get out of the car. Still when I did, things were fine. All we did was go to McDonalds then have a look round a clothes shop but I didn't notice anyone staring or passing comments. I was a bit too nervous to interact with anyone bar saying bye to one of the McDonalds girls as we left. I also had a minor panic when I needed to use the toilet but for the sake of avoiding incident I used the disabled toilet.

All in all I was quite pleased, but I've noticed my dysphoria is now at the lowest it's been in quite a while. I feel like I've got something out of my system and now I feel a bit ... unmotivated as regards transition? Did this happen to anyone else?

Megan.

I can agree with this, after going out the first time to the pub a couple of weeks ago I felt quite flat for a few days, but feelings and thoughts soon returned, and I'm off out again tomorrow night!

I wouldn't say that your dysphoria is gone and you don't need to transition, but maybe it is, I don't know.  All I can relate is my own story.

I go out en femme now everywhere but at work, and that's only 3 months away from changing!  I no longer feel "wrong" though except when I'm at work sometimes, lol.  Like I read in someone else's signature, iKates I think it was, now "I'm just a girl taking her vitamins."  It's becoming routine and normal everyday and to me that's just as exciting because I see progress and change and acceptance around every turn.  The future is now just unfolding before me.  :)

Thanks folks. Already I'm starting to feel the pang a bit :)

It's great that your sister is on board as an understanding ally.  All the best.
