I work in healthcare where we use certain standardized codes to diagnose and describe patients' conditions.

I was toying with a code database app on my phone and stumbled upon a code most providers use for transgendered patients and was pretty astounded and upset about how it's categorized and which other diagnosises it's categorized with.

It is still (incorrectly) considered a mental problem.  I don't think it's discrimination.  It's stupidity.

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.
