Yesterday evening I was taking a nap after work( the excitement that is my life) when I was awakened by a phone call, startled out of sleep I picked up the and said hello. Woman on the other end said she was looking for (wife's name) is that you ma'am?  I said no she is not here right now can I take message, she responds that she was from some telemarketing firm then said " I will try again later, goodnight ma'am".  I wasn't thinking about my voice when I picked up but apparently my practicing is paying off, don't think I will ever be able to sing the way I would like when I play my guitar but ya never know.
Anyone else have any similar experiences?

after about a year of speaking with a female voice, it became automatic, no matter the time of day, or whether I just woke up. I also learned to make my coughs and sneezes sound female.

Using the trained voice, always. Getting a ma'am on the telephone? Still recovering from voice surgery but maybe soon.

Coughing and sneezing are harder since they are reflexive in nature, my sneeze is sort of neutral, cough is in the Lemmy zone at times.

I have kind of a hate/hate relationship with telephones and drive thrus.

I get ma'am ed fairly regularly in person but if my voice leads?   Ugh. ...

I'm working on it but not really even close yet sadly.

The other day I ordered a pizza over the phone. I kinda croaked and wasn't prepared properly and did a really half-assed girl voice and I got sir'd.

Then the guy asked me to hold and I was like "Right! let's do this" When he came back I went full girl voice and the guy actually backtracked! "si... ma'am".

I felt a little bad confusing the poor guy over the phone but hey.

I've had surgery so it is easier for me but the first few times I got "ma'am" in the drive thru and phone it was a very nice feeling.

I kind of lucked out with my voice. I've called ma'am on the phone before I even accepted the fact that I was transgender. Now that I've been actively trying to speak feminine I have only been called ma'am on the phone etc. It is definitely affirming to interact with people over the phone like that.
