Dodie

I have my date set for SRS in February 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.  Bought the plane ticket and so ready for this next step.  Even with my plane ticket I am saving half over the U.S. doctors.
Drawback is a month in Thailand.... but from the girls I have talked to you do get to have some fun.. and Bangkok is pretty amazing..
I really got worn out trying to get insurance to give me an answer on coverage here in USA.. I also like the procedure they use in Thailand.. especially for my anatomy.. so it worked out for the best.
So I will be cancelling with Bowers..
I think from the time I went on hormones to SRS will be about 24 months... how time flies.. seems it was just yesterday that the dream and journey began.
Everyone asks if I am nervous.. and I am not.. I have not been nervous for any surgery I have been fortunate to have to transition.
Wishing you all well and a good weekend!

Hi Dodie!

You didn't mention, but I may have missed it.  Have you decided on the surgeon you will be using?

Congrats girl.  Good luck with everything. You've been an inspiration to a lot of us.

Good for you, Dodie.  Mine is locked in with Dr. Chettawut for Nov 3rd, less than a month away.  I'm pretty calm about it so far, despite it being serious surgery.  Who are you going to have do yours?

Congratulations ! This is a huge milestone !

I am also going to have my SRS done in Thailand in two years . I am going to dr Chettawut . I would like him to do both rhinoplasty and vaginaplasty in one operation .

Thailand is indeed so much cheaper than our westearn world . Dr Chettawut charges 7500$ for SRS and only 1500$ for rhinoplasty .

Dr McGinn for example would already charge 7500$ for breast augmentation alone !

So for 9000$ and stay at the Dusit Princess + plane ticket ( being 4000$ all together ) making 13000$ I will be all set concerning my surgeries . Definitely more than they could here in Europe and I bet in the US too ...

Also the difference in technique ( non - penile vs penile ) is monstruous !
Hi everyone ! I am Vincence , 19 years old , living in Belgium and I am transgender since as long as I can remember . As a kid I already was a girl but didn't really get picked on for my femininity . Growing up that changed . I know that I am transsexual since the age of 15 , came out to my parents and brother this summer , got denied for it . Now I am going to have SRS in 2 yrs.

Congratulations.  My GCS (the new name for SRS) will be in January. I know Bangkok and Phuket really well and have a great penthouse in Bangkok. Let me know if you need anything - I should be mobile by then.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

Hello Dodie, so great to hear you made a choice that helps you move forward with your life goals.
I assume you provided Dr. Bowers with $1,000 deposit for tentative surgery date?  Do you plan on asking for return of the deposit?
I found myself in a similar situation and had a tentative surgery date with Dr. Bowers.  I wonder how many others find themselves having to cancel with her?
Apparently $1,000 goes a long way towards SRS and recovery in Bangkok.

Thank you,
Anne

Congratulations and Best wishes! I had some procedures done by Dr. Chettawut a few years ago, and I am pleased with the results. The aftercare I received was second to none, as a nurse (Orange was the nurse who cared for me) visited me each day to care for my incisions, and help me with massages, or anything else I needed.

Hey Girls
Thanks so much for all the well wishes.
I will be using Chettawut.
Its only 4 months away and I am already working hard to get all my ducks in a row for the trip.
I am a pilot and so excited about getting to fly on the 777 ... I know that seems trivial.. but I love to fly and can't wait for the flight.. of course I am sure after 22 hours I will be ready to get off that plane LOL
Love you

Keri!

Have you decided on which airline you are going to book?

I'll be flying out of Houston and I am leaning heavily toward Korean Air.  Have heard good things about their schedules, comfort level and passenger care!

Hey,

Congratulations!!!!

I'm Dec 8 with Dr McGinn!!!!!  I am envious that you are not nervous.  I sure am......

Hugs

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

I flew the A380 from JFK to Seoul in Prestige class and it is excellent. They have a bar upstairs and the bibimbap is nice!
