Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I've searched the forums but so far haven't found a reliable answer.
My partner started hrt almost a year back or so. And now she hardly has any sex drive and she can't get hard either. It's really frustrating for us. And we live in a 3rd world <not Permitted> so can't really consult with proper doctors or psychologist. In fact it isn't even legal to transition here. Anyways we have tried Viagra (vgr 100) but it's a hit and miss. Is there a way to adjust your hrt medicine so that she can get an erection when we plan for sex? Are there any kind of other pills that might help? Someone mentioned that <Not Permitted> on youtube talks about adjusting your hrt intake for a better sex drive but i cannot find that particular video.

Welcome to Susan's Place. One of the reasons for the RLE rule of a year on HRT before surgery is to ensure a person will be comfortable with all the side effects of HRT after surgery. A reduced sex drive and failure to have an erection are possible side effects of HRT. This is not to say that transitioning is wrong for your partner but it is giving her a glimpse of what the future holds. The desire to transition has to be weighed against the desire to have high level sex. The surgery will not provide a return of the former sex drive.

You really need to consult with an Endo on this because blood hormone levels need to be checked as well as liver damage. If that is not possible in your country, you should consider visiting another country where that is possible. We don't provide self medication information because what may be safe for one person can prove deadly for another. I hope you are able to find the professional help you need.

Erections need testosterone.  If she stops HRT, the testosterone should come back and she'll have erections again.  But is that what she really wants?

Honestly anything we say is a guess, as we are not doctors (most of us). My dr has said that she can adjust the HRT for erectile function but it may mean reducing the amount of E I take. Not something I want to do.

You'd need to find other ways to play. Sorry. :(

Everyone is different so at what level you are able to preform again is unknown and that level maybe so low that you don't have much of any effects from it. You should be seeing dr when taking hrt's.

Viagra won't work if her mind's not in the game, erectile dysfunction is just as much about the mind as it is the penis. Being on HRT may or may not reduce libido but it will generally change the way the body responds to sexual and sensual stimulus - it sounds like the old sexual dynamic is no longer the same. As iKate says, you may need to find a new way to play, try to pleasure her the way you'd like to be pleasured and see if that makes a difference.

Also, the medication has a long lead time. The longer she has been on it the longer she'd need to go without it for the effects to reverse and there will be a lag time when she takes it back up again.
