Hello. My name is Jamie and I'm 16 years old.

I'm in a need of a new haircut, but I want to be sure that I get the right haircut, thus I'm asking you beautiful people for advice and recommendations. I made a list of relevant information, what I would prefer and some notes, to give you some idea of who I am.

I would like to apologize in advance, my laptop's webcam is terrible.

- I don't want to attract too much attention.
- I have really frizzy and curly hair.

Kind regards, Jamie.

hey! welcome! I like the last one, too. But coming from a person who has really frizzy and thick hair you might want to go on a route of shorter  on the sides so it looks neat (Sorry I'm not good with actual clipper lengths) and leave some length on the top to play around with. You can always do that and let it grow out, and try something else. I've come to see that lengths like the image you posted in the notes, grow out quickly and might not look like the model they're on. So yeah, I'd experiment!

Yeah, I agree with jlaframboise about having the sides a little bit neater/shorter. It doesn't even have to be a lot. My hair is thick and can be very frizzy at times and I have it shorter on the sides and it looks a lot better that way. If I didn't have it like that it would probably "poof" out.

I can see you pulling off the hairstyle that you linked, though keep in mind you may need to style it.. though it looks like the kind of hairstyle you can roll out of bed with, but since you have frizzy/thick hair you may want to get yourself a product to keep it in check throughout the day.

On a side note, I like your shirt! Did you get it from H&M? I ask because I have one that is VERY similar.

Hmm, I'm no good with scissors, but do you think that I would be able to maintain the lengths by myself?

I bought the shirt in a second-hand shop the other day, although the brand is indeed H&M. I would have liked it more, if it were just slightly smaller, but it looks good either way.

Here's a picture of the shirt: http://imgur.com/5IdnKMd

Most likely! You can get clippers online or even at Walmart and I looked into that once, but found it was easier for me mentally to just go in and get haircuts. The length would probably be easy to maintain if you looked up enough videos on how to cut it and trim it properly! But it doesn't hurt getting done by someone else once in awhile. I know a lot of transguys and people in general on YouTube who show videos on how to maintain that style at home.

Heh, alright! My brother told me that his friend had some clippers laying around, which I would be able to borrow if needed, so that's settled.

I'm going to the barber next week, I can't wait!

wow!  if you choose to loose yhat hair, please look into donating or selling it!  id kill for it:)  i understand you dysphoria may want you to go the other way though..  i spent almost 40 years with hair no longer than an inch, mostly due to military, but now its to shoulders and not growing fast enough !  chemo and now new hormones have thickened it and filled in bald spots..  hopefully during your transition, you will never see my issues:)

i do wish you the best in finding you style:)  jamie

I was actually thinking of something almost exactly what you linked as a hairstyle when I was looking at your pictures! If your hair's really curly, though, definitely go a little shorter on the back/sides. My boyfriend also has very curly hair and when the sides get just a little bit longer than in the link, it just kind of... poofs out everywhere, with no real manageability. Getting the sides a little shorter will give you a better lifespan on the haircut.

Yay! I got my haircut! I'm actually surprised, I didn't expect my face to change so much and it doesn't even look half-bad! I got it slightly shorter so that I could experiment some more. What do you people think?

It wasn't that difficult to tell the hairdresser that I wanted a men's haircut, I just told her that I would like it short-ish and that I'd prefer a men's cut. She was so understanding!

Does anyone know how to change the title of this topic? I would like to change it to: Advice and recommendations for short FtM haircut [Curly and frizzy hair]
[/i]

I've got no product in, since I've just been under the shower and I'm heading to bed soon.

I decided having everything short, including the sides, because I really wanted to experiment with as many hairstyles as possible. I'm looking forward to seeing how curly my hair is going to be, when it grows.

I donated my locks, I do really hope somebody will find joy in having such long hair. I'm really glad to hear that you're doing better! By the way, you look fabulous and your hair looks so healthy, do you use any special products?

I wish you all the best, Jamie.

You doesn't need to worry so much. You would probably pass very well. You have a very masculine head shape and facial features. So looking feminine would not be a big problem. There are many people who look more feminine and it's harder for them to decide haircut.

Are you a FTM by the way? I ask you, just in case... I doesn't want to use wrong pronouns later. Gender are not on every profiles.

You look awesome and damn you have a nice face shape you're lucky.
It looks awesome it's great you look handsome dude!
Just saying but like curly hair always makes me think of Phil Bellamy off Heartbeat (um ok I'm British I'm sorry, but look him up) and yeah.
Idk where I was going with this.

Looks good!
Seems like you got advice that you needed.
I might be oversimplifying it, but as a general rule I go with short sides, longer on top. And when I was pre-T, I would get my girlfriend to cut off the little wispy, pointy bangs that tended to grow in front of my ears between haircuts. I felt it made the cut look sort of pixie-ish, and as soon as they were gone I felt better. My girlfriend thought I was being weird at first but she totally agreed when she did it.
Apologies, I'm not myself but I can guarantee
That when I get back, you won't believe
That you knew me well
Don't want to think about it
I'm ****in' tired of getting sick about it
Now stand back up and be a man about it
And fight for something, fight for something, fight for something!

Was this a weird spam comment, or did you just misread? I think he probably doesn't want a women's haircut, haha.

Going short on the sides is easily maintainable
i really like having a fade , and then short on top
just something thats easy to keep up with
