Hiya everyone!! I am new to the forum and super excited to be on HRT. I'm in my fourth week on estrogen and I feel amazing!! I feel balanced, more than i ever have. That is all except a few things. Forgive me for asking. I've had headaches off and on since starting HRT. Is this normal? Also, my stomach/bowels have been shall we say uneasy... if you follow what I am saying. Is this normal too? My wife says it happens to her during her period so I assume it's natural side effect.

As a retired Paramedic it sounds to me more like inadequate hydration. On Spiro you need to up your water (WATER) intake a lot. Not coffee, soft drinks, but water. Dehydration will give you all the symptoms you listed. :)

I am 15 months full strength HRT and have never had any of these symptoms. I stay hydrated well.

Hey Amanda

Welcome to Susan's  :)  Great to have you here - looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

There can be a variety of side effects when you first start HRT - you're essentially resetting the endocrine system which is a fairly well tuned thing. Generally side effects should settle down in two or so weeks - but if they don't or get worse then please see your doctor/endocrinologist ASAP.

Please check out the following links for site rules, helpful tips and other info...

Hi Amanda, welcome to Susan's. As others have already mentioned, this can happen especially first starting HRT and adequate  hydration is a must to help avoid side affects. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs

Hi Amanda,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Lots of good advice so far regarding hydration. Very under estimated component to medical health. 85% of us is water after all. Need to keep it that way.

If you're not happy within yourself after a few days, check with your prescribing health professional. That's what they're there for.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be knid to yourself, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

When I started HRT and when my dosages change, I got/get mild headaches for 2-3 days.  A couple ibuprofen or tylenol and it's fine around day 4.
