Done properly a few weeks up to 8 weeks.

However many times I can't get it to epilate properly because the hairs are rooted so deep. So it breaks at the top just above the skin. Frustration.

Wax goes a little deeper so it works better for me.

Oh wow that sounds amazing!

Thanks for the info I'll look into getting one. Craving that constant smooth feel.

How long does it take for the hairs to regrow using this method?

I'm thinking of trying it out if it's a lot longer than simply shaving. The pain sounds worth the results.
Once you've got past the first part its easy. I stopped some time ago to keep my wife happy, so I don't recall the times, but it is easy and effective.

Wax a few times first, then epilate. That way the painful part is over quickly.

After using the epilator every two weeks for most part of a year, hardly anything grows anymore on my whole body. It's great :D

I couldn't have afforded to do professional waxing like that.

Waxing first sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking of shaving and then using it a few days after for the first time.

I went with the Braun epil 7 in the end, as it has a lot of good reviews and is discounted by over 60% on Amazon UK right now. (Plus it has a wet option and this is apparently a lot less painful). Just gotta wait for it to arrive!

I hope the original poster of this thread gives it another go though, the results sound absolutely amazing.

Definitely get waxed a few times first, then epilate as the fine hairs start to grow back out. Then you're getting finer hairs with not so deep a root, and not quite so many at once. It will give you the same results with way less pain. I actually like waxing... smooth for a long time, and it feels therapeutic to me. I would never take an epilator to the face... just sounds like a bad plan. I have plenty of scars to mask already... I would hate to risk damaging my face.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

I found out that the hair removal ie Electrylosis, epilators has been the worst part of my transition. I tried creams. Some were a waste of money. I might has well put cream on my self & let the cat lock it off. LOL. It took about 6 weeks for the Electrylosis lady to do my arm. Legs took 8 weeks. Torso front 10 weeks. face I had done 1st, since people would see that more. I used an epilator. I trudged thru wether it hurt or not. Finally I was done.  Was so glad!!!!

Well I learned this, the level of device you get does make a difference

First one was a Remington EP7010, 35 dollars at walmart
I returned that and got a Braun Silk-Epil 9,  from Ulta at 140 dollars (same nearly everywhere)

the Braun hurts less, period.... it does hurt on some areas, but nothing like the Remington

Remington I couldnt even get it started on my legs, felt like I was getting zapped by electricity
in a bad way, and it took about 10 passes to clear the spots elsewhere that I tried

The Braun, I did my entire legs and butt in about 15 minutes with only minor discomfort, couple passes was good enough to see huge results.

I have a Philip's epilator. It was rated the best. You can feel it, but it is not that bad. It did quick work on the long hair of my arms. It needs another going over, but considering the long hairs, not bad. One more run through should take care of the rest. Smooth arms. Even though they did get red like they were sunburned.

Im realizing how bad skin looks after being heavy and losing alot of weight... :(
