Coming out at work today during the department meeting. Already have my promoters' support and the head of our department. Turns out I'm not the first person in the department to do this, which makes it a bit easier. Still nervous as ->-bleeped-<- though. And not going to announce anything to my students. Just going to start next year as Mr. X. Still, after today, everyone in my life, family, friends, colleagues, will pretty much know. And I'll never have to be that girl again.

I stood up, gabbled through what I had to say, and got a lot of "not surprised" and "congratulations". No nasty comments, no nasty looks. Everyone was cool with it.

I really wish I had done this years go. Truly I do.

Now everyone knows. And my days as that girl are at an end. I'm Thomas from here on out. I feel like a five hundred pound gorilla just got off my back. Of course, some of that is no doubt from the beers the guys took me out for afterwards, lol.

Thomas - I have been called to the table for other people coming out at work. They all say the same thing "What was I afraid of?". Easy in hind sight, terrifying when its ahead. Thomas - So proud of you, don't minimize any of your triumphs! You DID IT! - Hugs, Holly
