Ive learned to get a super close shave...but of course that blue haze is still visible under a smooth face

I use Lancomme Teint Idole Ultra 330 Bisque N Foundation, it takes away about 50 percent

I read about color correction, cancellation.... but I havent mastered it yet

videos make it look nearly perfect, but I cant get it

can you tell your secrets?  I dont want thick and cakey as I have a wrinkle in my chin that holds that stuff :-\

I guess Im looking for what color or product will fool that color?

thanks!

Reds are your best friend. One trick I used that work well was after a base foundation, I use a little red lipstick on the blue areas (like above the lip ) and blend. Let it dry for a minute then put concealer on top of that. It takes a little practice. Fortunately now I only have a few white hair after laser and 2 years of electrolysis. So it doe get easier and takes less time for makeup in the mornings that I choose to wear it.

According to the colour wheel orange tones can cancel out bluish tones.

Using an orange lipstick and foundation plus a primer ideally. I found liquid foundation to work best vs powders, this is coming from someone who had a heavy blue shadow. The brand I used was makeup forever HD foundation.

Seems like one my topic shall get some reads.

Basically, yes, it is lipstick. Through I am fond of the one that once smeared in face, the lipstick part should look natural already. Otherwise the color needs changing. I've got purple areas instead of blue ones. Not yet at using a yellow lipstick though. Maybe I should give it a try.

If the intent is to put concealer et. al on the top of the lipstick, perhaps any color more natural than the blue/purple will do. But, the routine above takes me about 20 mins. to complete and I am already good to go out.

Thank you all, I did get some orange and different shades of concealer...weirdly enough Elf Cover Everything Medium (just a beige color) did the best, yes my face is funny, tried 7 different products at once... like patchwork... some worked, some failed

I did put foundation over it all, will keep trying here

Im finding that blending the foundation shows the color and patting it on shows the wrinkles I mention as its cakey..

Im currently out of primer and forgot to get that today, Ive only used Lancomme LaBase as of yet... Im not prissy about 50 dollar primer, but I went to Dillards to get matched for Dermablend and the girl sold me on Lancomme instead... Id love a good primer that was much much less money...

As everyone else said, I've found that the red lipstick trick works. After primer and before foundation in my case.

I used to have SO much trouble with this but I have finally perfected it. I absolutely love makeup and watch beauty videos every single day.

First thing's first, it is important that you have the RIGHT makeup products AND the right BRUSHES to apply your makeup! People really overlook the importance of good brushes.. I did too. Also the method and technique in which you blend/pat your makeup is very important. In addition, something as simple as choosing the wrong foundation/concealer type or applying with the wrong brush can make all the difference in effing up your makeup. For me personally I had chosen the right makeup products but my makeup still came out cakey, and my shadow would still show, UNTIL I found the correct brush to apply makeup.

I currently have normal skin, in between dry and oily. Remember different skin types need different types of makeup. I would talk to a Sephora associate to help you with choosing the right makeup.

Things you will need:
- A good primer.
- A reddish-orange lipstick. Make sure it has an orange tint to it. Don't just go for pure red lipsticks.
- A good FULL-coverage foundation or concealer that can apply heavy but not come out cakey.
- A good brush (I believe this is the most important). Do NOT use a beauty blender for covering shadow. Beauty blenders blend out SO well that your shadow actually ends up peaking through.
- A good translucent powder to lock everything in place. If you want a little more coverage you will go for full-coverage powders as opposed to translucent powders. Translucent powders lock your makeup but do not add coverage.
- A good makeup setting spray to finish everything off. I believe makeup setting sprays help a ton. Not only do they set your makeup on all day, they also "blend" all your makeup together almost as if all the makeup is "one."

You will essentially want to apply your makeup in the order I listed the products above.

The products I use and recommend for people with my skin type:

- Urban decay Porefessional primer

- I honestly use any orange-red lipstick in CVS. Just be sure to apply the lipstick color on areas where blue shadow shows ONLY. E.g. don't apply the lipstick all over the upper lip, only on areas where there is actually shadow on the upper lip. If you add the lipstick on areas where you do not have shadow, the presence of the lipstick in those areas will only accentuate the areas where there IS shadow.

- Tarte amazonian clay foundation. This foundation is full coverage AND doesn't crease or cake. An alternative would be the Nars creamy concealer. Again, full coverage but not cakey.

- I use the Sephora Pro brush number 57. This is my HOLY GRAIL makeup applicator to conceal beard shadow. Basically when blending your foundation/concealer over the red/orange lipstick, you want to press the brush over and over on your face. Do NOT circle the brush on your skin because gliding the brush along the skin will just move the makeup/concealer and your beard shadow will start showing. Make sure to press, press, press, pat, pat, pat.

- Setting/translucent powders I find a good variety work and people have their own preferences. I would talk to a Sephora associate. Be honest and say you have beard shadow and are looking for a powder that can help set/cover your foundation without coming off cakey.

- For setting spray, the tried and true Urban decay setting spray!

Remember you need to use the perfect products, applicator, and blending method. Anything wrong in that formula and your shadow area will come out cakey. Don't slack with your makeup products and applicators! Remember the goal is to hide your shadow and PRESERVE your passability in public, right? You do not want to get clocked simply because you are slacking on finding the right products. Hope I helped! Good luck!

Patting on the makeup probably shows wrinkles because you are not using the correct makeup applicator. Try out the brush I recommended and let me know how it goes! :) It's an amazing brush that sells for $20+ but it's well worth the price IMO. Also be sure to stretch your skin when applying foundation so you cover all the creases and wrinkles. I smile a few times when applying foundation on my upper lip because smiling stretches out my skin.

Try the primer I recommended also. All the beauty gurus on youtube use it.

Edit: Also, when using foundation, make sure you are not using liquid foundation. Liquid is very hard to blend over red lipstick. I would try the Amazonian clay foundation.. it's kind of like clay consistency.

Edit 2: It's possible your beard area is looking cakey because you are also only applying foundation on your beard area. If you are applying foundation/concealer to your shadow, make sure you apply an almost even amount of the same foundation on the rest of your face. You don't want just one area of your face covered.. it will definitely look cakey. In my profile picture, I've received comments from friends that my skin looks really natural. But I am actually super caked with makeup.. underneath all that is really bad beard shadow.

I know right Cindi?! What would I do without youtube and the array of beauty vloggers that exist out there. Watching beauty videos has sort of become an addiction of mine. Binge watch makeup videos ALL day!

And jeez I wrote like an essay earlier haha.
