First and foremost - if this isn't allowed to be asked, then I apologize, I looked around and couldn't find any rules against it, although it's entirely possible I simply overlooked it somewhere. If this is against the rules, my apologies and please disregard/delete this thread. ^_^ Now! On to the show!

I recently started my transition! Yay! After visiting a therapist nearby for around 4.5 months I finally got the go-ahead to go see a doctor to start T-Blockers. I was so excited to get to the next step, and even more excited when I went to the doctor and after only a short visit, she prescribed me both Spiro and Estradiol! I was practically speechless as prior to this I was told I may need to do three months of T-Blockers with no estrogen!

Needless to say, I rushed to my local pharmacy and got the prescription filled the next day. We were still waiting for my bloodwork, and I realize that ideally I should wait until the bloodwork came back before taking the medicine but I was too excited(and I've have ZERO health problems in my entire life, so I didn't believe there'd be any issues). So for around two weeks I've been taking <Not Permitted> Spiro and <Not Permitted> Estradiol every day while waiting for blood results. Well I got them today and as I expected everything was normal, except I had low-T... ironic... anyways, they said I'd be fine to take what I had and come back in a month so I went ahead and rescheduled...

Now! For my dilemma... I have a single month's supply of Spiro/Estradiol... or had... I've used about 12 days worth already. My next appointment is in 32 days. So, I only have 18 days of medicine left. I don't want to have a period where I'm not taking my medicine, but I've already used up my prescription. So! I've been looking around for ways to get another dosage, same as my doctor has prescribed, to help last me until my next visit.

Appreciate any help or advice that can be offered. I'm so excited about this whole process and again, if this is breaking any rules, I apologize and understand.

I can't answer your question (its against the site's rules), but I also had low T when I started. I found out this can happen if you have liver problems - did you have liver function tests?

Any reason you can just go back to your doctor for another prescription?

Often the pharmacy can call the doctors office to obtain additional medication. The other way is to call the doctors office and have them call the pharmacy for additional medication. If you started medication when the doctor said you could it was just a problem of the appointment being to far off. As you already have your next appointment on the books, they should be able to extend the prescription for the time you need.

just have your pharmacy call the doctor - running short on meds happens to people all the time no matter what meds they are taking - getting lost while traveling, flushed down the sink after spillage, rescheduling of appointments, ad infinitum - both parties (pharmacy and doctor's office) will be familiar with the situation

Have you checked the label on the prescriptions for refills?
You might already have some available to you.

If the doctor is accustomed to trans patients, I guarantee that they've experienced patients not waiting to start the prescribed dose. Just make sure you don't self-adjust the amount , because it will throw off the labs. The duration of taking each dosage level is mostly for establishing a baseline for how it metabolizes and levels out it your blood.
Either go through your pharmacy or call up your doctor to let them know you need more. Starting and stopping isn't exactly a good idea, especially when you're determining your standard dose and trying to keep in healthy ranges. Once you have an established dosage, erratic schedules happen and they'll mostly just give you a mood imbalance.

I was going to be 8 days short of meds before my next appointment, so I called my doctor and asked her what I should do. I left a message actually.

A few hours later the pharmacy called me to let me know my prescriptions had been filled (a 30-day supply no less), lol. It's no big deal, just let your doc know that you're gonna be short by a few days and they'll take care of you.
