I've had several good experiences with Electrology 3000 ("E3000"), and recently used them for GRS prep. I thought it might be helpful to share, so here goes. :)

E3000 is an electrolysis team that specializes in trans women - all areas of the body. They're located in Lewisville, Texas, near Dallas, in a quiet, professional/medical office park.

All work is done after lidocaine injections, so except for the shots, it's painless. This includes both facial and genital clearing. The electrologists are very fast - and you can book two at a time, which cuts the session length in half!

They also zap each follicle twice, turning the probe 180 degrees in the shaft to improve effectiveness.  >:-)

I flew out there a month ago for GRS clearing, and my tech was Denise, one of the owners. She already knew the desired clearing pattern for my intended GRS surgeon, Dr. Bowers, but I was kind of paranoid about it so I emailed her the diagram anyway. ;)

Instead of renting a car like last time, I took a taxi from DFW to my hotel near their offices. It cost about $40. All told, my taxi expenses were less than car rental, and I think I'll do that again. You just have to be sure to call the taxi early enough - you might try using Uber to add some predictability.

I stayed at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson in Lewisville. They're at
755 B E Vista Ridge Mall Drive, which is about 10 minutes from the E3000 offices. I've used them before, and it's an OK place for the money. I think I paid around $105/night.

Finding the E3000 offices was easy. The address is 105 Kathryn Dr., Suite C, Lewisville, TX 75067. The entrance is on the street side, I think the second door from the right (here's a street view). There was plenty of parking on the right, and it was only a few steps to the office door.

When you enter, there is a vestibule that ends in a "T", and E3000 is the office on the right. On the left is a housekeeping service office which had its door closed the whole time. The E3000 waiting room is comfy, with big overstuffed chairs, and is not visible from the street.

Clearings are done in reclining chairs like you would find in a doctors or dentists office, with the familiar light above on a swing arm. The chair is fully adjustable, which is great since you will be lying there awhile. I usually ask for a little pillow behind my neck as well. On the not moving for awhile thing - don't forget to visit the girls room before the session starts!

Denise turned down the room lighting, and even with the light she used, it was very pleasant. I think she had Pandora going for background music. Denise is really sweet and we just talked about family stuff and whatever came up during the whole session.

This was my first GRS clearing using Dr. Bower's pattern, and I thought it would take four hours. Denise completed it in just two - she is so fast it's ridiculous. I had no pain at any time during the procedure!  :icon_dance:

When we were done I made the next 2 appointments (6 weeks apart) because they get booked up months in advance. Since most recommendations are to do 4-6 clearings, it's important to keep the appointments on track.

So that's pretty much it. I hope someone finds this helpful, and I'm happy to answer questions...

Very informative post.  Please keep it up for when it my turn to go for the procedure.

Hugs,

Hey Emily! I'm glad it was helpful. :)

If you can afford the extra expense for the travel and hotel, it is so worth it...

What do they charge?  I'm very happy with my tech, but may go elsewhere if I need presurgical work. I don't feel entirely comfortable going to my current tech for that as I have gotten to know her. I would find it awkward.

For GRS clearing, it's $160 per tech per hour. Other areas are $110.

Honestly, I've found the major part of the expense to be flight / hotel / transportation...

Yikes - I'm paying $65 hour!

But you're not getting E3K.

For a pain free procedure that covers more area and requires fewer visits it's worth it, IMO.

I get the occasional zinger, of course, but for the most part, electro is very comfortable to me (maybe tolerable is better).  I've never used any painkillers.  My doctor wrote me a prescription for a topical that stronger than Emla, but I've never filled it.  I've had exactly one truly painful session.  I have no idea why that one was different, but Oh. My. God.  My appointment was this morning.  2 hours, and I could have fallen asleep.

But yeah, might be worth it for the genital work.  But that's a TBD.  I have a lot to do before I get there.  Brassard's at the top of my list anyway and he doesn't want it done.

Hi, I'm Carri, a newbie here.  Thanks for the information provided here - I'm thinking I'll use the same hotel.  My first session w/e3000 is in December for 6 hours.  So how bad are the lidocaine injections?

Hi Carri,
I go for my ninth clearing next week.. its different for everyone.. I suggest, if you can call your endo and ask for one or two valium.  Take one right when you get there.  If you can get your endo to prescribe a pain pill do that too.. take the valium and a couple hours later take the pain med.. of course ask your Dr. how to do this.  I did my first few clearings without.. and I did ok.. but as time went on... could be estrogen.. I became more sensitive..
I would block the pain of the shots by thinking about something hard to do like landing a plane in a storm.. or flying aerobatics.. I am a pilot..  The thing is.. we have to do it... no choice so we make the best of it we can.. Your endo should not mind prescribing small amounts to get you by every six weeks.. Just tell her what your doing.. she should be sympathetic.. mine was.
Good luck

I hate the lidocaine injections but they are over pretty quickly for each area. The ones downstairs are the worst. Ugh.

I've found being anxious makes the injections hurt more,  so I skip the coffee and also take an anti-anxiety med before the appointment. I always ask for Denise, who likes to chat, which is a nice distraction.  :)

Hi Eveline,
I just had a full 10th clearing Nov 11th..
I sure seemed to have some growth.. we have made a lot of headway but I was surprised what showed up this time.. I hope it was a good clearing..
I am discouraged to be honest.. I figured by now it would be done.. or at least near done.. I bet I have 5 more clearings ahead of me
What was nice was having my chest hairs done.. since we had time... and I don't have a lot..
That did not hurt at all and we did no injections.

Miss Clara

The need for genital hair removal by most North American surgeons is one of the reasons I chose to have my GRS in Thailand.  Dr. Chettawut, Dr. Suporn, and others don't require or even want patients to attempt genital hair removal before surgery.  It saved me a lot of time and money.

I had volume hair removal on my face and neck at Dr. Zukowski's place in Wilmette, IL.  It's similar to E3000 with Lidocaine shots, double pulse flash thermolysis modality, two techs working simultaneously, lymphatic massage therapy, etc.  I've done 20 full face/neck clearings over the past year and still have more to go.   Belle Brine would have done the genital work, too, but I have little confidence that all the hair could be completely removed in a reasonable time frame, and the costs are huge.

Dr. Chettawut builds the vagina using scrotal skin scraped of all hair follicles so no hair will grow in the vagina post-op.  Sometimes a little hair will grow at the very bottom entrance of the vagina which can be removed by electrolysis later.

I'm not saying the skin graft method is right for everyone, but it has its advantages, and not requiring genital hair removal was a big one for me.

Dr Zukowski is my hero.. he did my FFS and my body shaping.. my ex and I are leaving in the morning ..to Chicago.. she is having a tummy tuck.. cant wait to hug him.
I hope to God I don't have another 12,000 I have to spend on facial hair removal.. OMG.. Anyway I too am going to Chett in February for my surgery.
