Politicians are not going to vote for things that lose them elections. Otherwise they don't stay politicians for long. That has nothing whatsoever to do with how they feel about the issue.

Bill Clinton was not going to veto DOMA. Would have cost votes in the 1990s when it happened. Does he believe in marriage equality? Does he think it should be left up to the states? Does Hilary? Who knows. You certainly can't infer anything from their support or rejection of DOMA 20 years ago.

If she says she now supports LGBT rights, I will take her at face value.

I don't trust Hillary,or Bernie they are both socialist and I hate socialism. America was founded as a republic not a democracy,Thomas Jefferson warned us of what democracies do too the people.Donald Trump or Ben Carson are a much better choice.

I registered as a Dem for the first time this last year. I love socialism and i believe either Bernie or Hillary would continue the momentum of expanding rights not reducing them. It would be hard to imagine the defensive legislation that one would craft on a federal level to support bigotry, when the momentum of the nation is current with human rights, Houston notwithstanding.

We already see backlash on the reactionary forces in Texas as Dallas seeks to increase protections. With any struggle you will have ups and downs but momentum and demographics are in our favor.

Not too sound mean but if you love socialism move too Russia or China and see how that works for them  I'm transgender but I don't put my rights above someone elses right.You claim too love socialism but probably never lived under it.

I'm not a socialist but I would vote for Joseph Stalin before any Republican.  I will continue doing that until the Republicans stop pandering to the Evangelicals that infest their party.

I have lived in socialist democracies. Canada, the UK, Germany and Australia.  The first three have very active socialist politics and programs, the latter has programs and customs (minimizing religions influence in government, universal health, voting day is a holiday, small military etc).

I would not confuse communism and socialism even though they come from a common ancestor in marx and engels thought , i use to do that and I was very right wing. It's like comparing a gorilla and a human, same branch on the tree perhaps, but it has split many times since then.  China is more pure capitalist then the US now. Russia is an oligarchy. Democratic socialism has a foothold in much of the west.

To each their own which is why we get a chance to exercise our voice every election day.
