I had my first visit a couple of weeks ago. I was there for three days. They managed to clear my face and most of my chest - we didn't have time to get to the rest of me. They also indicated that clients should be on HRT (which I haven't done yet) before GCS electrolysis.

Overall, I am really happy with E3K. I don't know how much beard hair regrowth is normal, but it is definitely less than I expected from a single visit, at this point at least. The staff are thorough, and the lidocaine definitely makes a huge difference. I found the pain of electrolysis in areas that were not numbed to be quite significant. I've heard people describe it before as being like a rubber band snapping against your skin, but it felt more like a bee sting every time, so I was grateful for the lidocaine.

That said, I found the lidocaine shots themselves to be very painful. I found myself going into rigor mortis before each shot and holding my breath just to get through them. The pain is only partially associated with the initial insertion - most of it occurs after that, when the needle is moving around and the lidocaine is entering my system. The staff diplomatically said that I might have a somewhat lower pain threshold than your average girl, so take that for what it's worth.

Nonetheless, I definitely feel like numbing is the way to go. I was experiencing perhaps a minute or two of fairly intense pain to avoid an hour or so of less intense but cumulatively more difficult pain for a given patch. One thing that helped was that Denise was willing to number my lips using needles in my gums, as a dentist would do. Because she was able to use topical anesthetic prior to inserting the needle, the numbing was much less painful for my lips than the rest of my face and body.

I did take muscle a muscle relaxant (which normally puts me to sleep) and a Vicodin, and the needles were still really hard to bear. I'm sure my anxiety was a factor - will try taking an anti-anxiety med next time (end of December) to semi-sedate myself and see if that's a better approach.

I stayed in the Country Inn, which was great. There aren't a lot of amenities other than free breakfast and a small swimming pool/ hot tub, but the staff and shuttle service more than made up for that. AJ from the management staff in particular was kind and attentive in driving me back and forth. They have a special E3K rate of $79 a night, which seems like a good deal to me.

I've already booked December (2.5 days) and February (4 days). I'm trying to keep as close to a 6 week schedule as possible. I know there are a lot of steps on my path, but making the first concrete physical commitment like this towards transition feels important. I definitely want to hear more about the experiences of others.
