Personally, I am convinced that it is hormonal, but I also don't like the idea that maybe not everyone could pass some test devised to determine this, and that fighting for the right to self-determination, and self-expression is more important, and more inclusive.
Imo many cis people cannot grasp the concept.
They are happy with their gender identity.
So a biological explanation, and explaining the connected feelings, is imo a better way to get people to understand.
Many parents for example additionally have the idea that its a fault of their upbringing etc.
