I was just like you in that I was very upset when a colleague called me "man" because I hadn't heard him use it on any other female before. I didn't say anything, didn't show emotions, and let it go, but still felt animosity towards said colleague for weeks, until I finally heard him use "man" on some other female colleagues a while later.
