I think the really important part of the article was where she pointed out that we can't really judge based on ten seconds of clip--we will have to wait and see.  Considering that these kind of movies rely on crack humor to begin with, I am thinking that it is likely NOT B.C. making light of trans people but rather the same kind of borderline-in/appropriate humor that these sort of movies apply to everything from race to history to social status to sexuality to gender.  Truth is, 99% of stuff in these movies isn't politically correct.  If we're going to take on one issue then we might as well also comment on the sort of statements that are made about the intelligence of people from foreign cultures, the way people of different sexuality act, how people of different ethnicities interact, etc.  It certainly doesn't seem to be targeting gender issues anymore than it is targeting a million other groups.  Not saying that makes it right, but I wouldn't sign the petition for this reason, not based on those ten seconds.

I like Stiller movies a lot. The problem I have is that thiese people have been in the business for so long and especially  Stiller whose parents go back a long long time . I just can't comprehend no one saw a problem. I'm not a comedian or a screen play writer , but seriously how difficult is is to come up with a joke that's not going to offend.  The bad joke gets 1000 laughs and the inoffensive joke et 999 laughs. It seems to me a whole lot of common sense is lacking here. It is only a clip, but why isn't someone involved in this movie coming out immediately to stop potential damage. It makes me wonder how much more there is.

It does seem like someone in their PR wasn't reading any news before they passed the trailer... either that or they did it on purpose to get media attention

That's what I fear was their mentality, a cheap joke for cheap publicity
