Okay, so my wonderful doctor didn't bother to SHOW me how to inject T.  He just pointed to the area, and I was left to figure it out for myself.  These past four injections I have been injecting into my buttocks at an angle, and I just now discovered that this may not be putting the needle in deep enough.  Is the T not being absorbed fully because of the 45 degree angle?  The needle is one inch, btw.  Argh, I am really annoyed that they didn't show me how to do it.  It took me TWO SHOTS just to figure out how to properly fill a needle!

I don't think an angle will affect the amount of T your getting, several people do subcutaneous injections here which intentionally don't reach the muscle but go into the fat layer instead.  I'd just be careful with the buttock injections, the sciatic nerve is a B***.  I prefer the thigh personally but to each their own. 

I just picked the butt 'cause that's where they told me to stick it.  Next appointment I tend to get a more detailed explanation of how to do needle stuff, LOL.

The thigh is the best place to do it imo. The nurse who told me how to do mine was so mean and didn't show me how to do it! Good luck on finding the best place to do it!

My nurse has been giving me my shots in my butt. Yesterday she taught me how to do it myself but in the thigh.  Thigh is just easier to reach I guess.

I've had IM shots done to my thigh and those were horrible experiences. It could've possibly been the nurse's fault because she pushed the T in too fast and that messed up the muscle for couple days so I was limping because it hurt. And this was when I was on Sustanon, I don't even want to know what would've happened if it was Nebido. I bet my thigh would've exploded.

You're supposed to stick at a 90-degree angle (nearly straight) and also to stay within the upper-outer quadrant, so as to not hit the sciatic. Otherwise, there's not much difference between IM and SubQ as far as uptake levels are concerned. The chief difference is that there's less or no muscle soreness and scarring with SubQ than IM (naturally). Doesn't really matter where it gets in, just that it does. ALL of your body tissues are metabolically active, they will ALL break the oil down and absorb the T.

90 degrees is best for IM but honestly it's not too important because T can also be absorbed from the fat (subq) so it shouldn't cause issues if you're not hitting deep enough.

My doctor wouldn't show me how to inject in the butt. She does not recommend it. Even leaving out the risk of hitting a nerve, I think the thigh is much more accessible and I don't find it to be painful at all.

Like Dean and Magnus mentioned, it really depends what kind of shot you're giving yourself. It should be a 90 degree angle for IM (into the muscle). Not sure if the angle is different for subq, but T can be absorbed from both the muscle and the fat. I wouldn't be terribly concerned if it was just the one shot.

Sub-Q is more of a 45 degree angle. I do subcutaneous. The angle has wiggle room depending on needle length and how much fat you have on your body.
