I came across a story on yahoo about a school in Wisconsin that cancelled a book reading to students because of a group of bigoted parents wanting to sue the school over it. The school was going to read a book about Jazz the transgender teen. There were so many negative comments on the issue. So much bigotry and hatred and being just plain ignorant. I wrote a very well written comment to the negative posters. I did receive negative comments directed at me but I know I am right and they are in the wrong. Here is the link to the page:

"I must be the only person on here that actually applauds the school for willing to read the book to the students about being transgender. I am a transgender woman. There are two villains here: 1: those who are threatening the school with the lawsuit and 2: all the negative comment posters. Let me tell you all something, being transgender has absolutely nothing to do with sexuality. It's about gender(what your brain tells you that you are). That may be something you can't wrap your little minds around. Sexuality and gender are two entirely separate things. Yet you all assume that they are one and the same. They aren't. Had my school read this the students when I was in school I would have transitioned between the ages of 6 and 13. Unfortunately I had to endure a hellish puberty which I could have been spared if I had been allowed to transition and had enough information so that I could figure out who I am. I had to wait until I was 28 to put the pieces together. I am 32 now.
The GLBT community is not shoving this down your throats, It's you who are refusing to believe that children can be and are transgender. You are upset because people are raising awareness about this issue. Being transgender is not a mental disorder. It is a viable medical condition called Gender Dysphoria. I was born with it. I was born with a brain/body mismatch. This happened to all those children who are identifying as transgender. Who are you to say to these children that they can't be who they are? To the poster who asked about brain scans; there have been studies done on brains of transgender individuals and research has found that the brains of transgender women are identical to genetic women and the same for transmen and genetic men. I say let the children be who they are and support them. Do not disregard their gender identity/presentation (appearance) based upon what's between their legs. The school should go ahead with the reading no matter what the lawsuit people try to do. It would be the right thing to do."
What do you all think about this story and what do you think about my comments to all those naysayers?
