Spironolactone insurance coverage

Has anyone had problems with insurance, specifically United Healthcare/Caremark , covering Spironolactone?

Caremark is the worst. They will deny everything they can.

Spiro should be covered as a blood pressure medication. It is a cheap generic too so there is really zero reason to deny it. But they may and they probably do.

Some states (including Oregon, my own) require insurance to cover anything related to a gender diagnosis. My insurance once denied a claim, and i had to remind them of the law. Claim accepted.

I have BCBS so different company altogether but to answer your question no, I've never had an issue with them covering any of my HRT meds including Spiro.

iKate is dead on though, it's listed as a blood pressure medication (and cheap too) so they have no reason not to cover it.

Well my problem is solved. It turns out that they didn't change the gender marker after I changed my name. Our HR lady got it changed for me.
