Who offers the best price on GRS in the US? Anyone know?  I read an article on the internet about this transgender woman who had a GRA done in Florida that she paid $12000 but never mentioned which Doctor. I don't want to pay $30K if I can get it for a better price.

If you don't mind crossing the border, Brassard is a good choice too since CAD is relatively weak vs USD nowadays.

Concerning your first question you could have a look here:

concerning surgeons you could have a look here:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,196074.msg1746038.html#msg1746038

This might be an alternative but please be aware there are risks.

unless you have a lot of support and know what you do you might try to stick with very srs experienced surgeons.

Best bets imo are surgeons who have a lot of experience and kind of streamlined their process.

I paid about $21K. I went to Dr. Kathy Rumer. She will give you a free quote if you contact her.

If I was to do it all over again, I'd still go with quality over pricing. I got nailed with the difference in exchange rates on the Canadian to US dollar but I was happy and still am happy with the surgeon I chose.

I feel I was very fortunate to have been accepted by her.

I wish you luck with your search.

Clare

Dr. Reed is based in FL, but I don't know what he charges; he used to offer discounts to low income trans women, but I don't know if he still does.

Choose wisely, don't end up in an outpatient suite with recovery in the motel across the street! You want the facility to be able to handle any unexpected complications.

Yeah, Brassard cost me $20K US but with the exchange rate becoming more favorable it's like $17K now. And I'm 100% satisfied (plus his aftercare residence is fantastic).

Question: if you have a health insurance policy that includes GRS, then do surgeons advertise they take your insurance or do you need to have a direct consultation usually?

You might ask the surgeon directly.
There are quite a few posibilities:
reimburesement, partial reimbursement, direct coverage...

Brassard seems to be approved in michigan as well by the way...

Hello Everyone, Dr. Sinclair out of Beverly Hills: $22,000.  Could be less, I got in before price increase.  Price was not a determining factor, availability was!  Added: Who am I kidding the next choice was $50,000.  The difference in price would almost pay for FFS!

Thank you,
Anne

I've heard there is someone who will do it for $18,000...but I don't know who. If the price of TSSurgeryGuide.com still holds, Brassard (Montreal, QC) would be just under $15,000 at current exchange rate. He was just over $14,000 before the CAD edge back up a little.

For US doctors (as of 10/03/2015):

McGinn (PA) -- $21,000
Sinclair (Beverly Hills, CA) -- $22,000

[EDIT] If you don't mind a trip south of the border, Dr. Cardenas is $9,995 until October 20 (Schedule)/January 20 (Surgery). I'm not sure I could personally bring myself to have surgery in Mexico, but if price is king...

My opinion is that this is my vagina, and I want a good result. I want something I will be happy with and that any future partner will be happy with. I also do not want a fistula or other complication. So with such a small difference in price I would choose one on reputation rather than price.

Dr Reed in Miami charges about $14500 for GCS. However he does most surgery in his surgical suite with recovery in a local hotel. Since I am over 65 years, I will have my surgery in a hospital. My fee for Dr Reed is $9000 and Medicare will pay the hospital bill.

Before I contact my top choices (Brassard and Sinclair), should I have anything lined up to say properly?  I'm so worried about the requirements!
  •

OCAnne

SRS letters, hair removal, payment, time on HRT, time period to stop HRT prior to SRS?  What requirements?

Your requirements of them might include some of mine.
I made sure Sinclair's team knew I planned to use 'it' for sexual intercourse. "So do an extra good job with the sewing".
If you want a very young looking VG, make sure you let him know as well.  I got the run of the mill age appropriate look.
Your expectations for depth of the neo-vagina should also be communicated.

Thank you,
Anne

I had my surgery done by Dr. Christine McGinn of the Papillon Center in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

All I can say is I am very happy with the results and quality as well as the after care. Knowing what I know now and if I had to do it all over again, I'd have her do the surgery again.

I felt her price and reputation was a good value for the money, especially factoring in the Canadian to US dollar rate and it was a choice between her or Dr. Brassard only because he is in Canada. A woman at work went to him and her feedback had me go with Dr. McGinn.

She will let you know of any specific pre-requirements well in advance and once they are in place, if you choose her, set a date for consultation.

Your choice of surgeons is your choice and there may be others whom you are more comfortable with after you have done your research.

Love,
Clare

I haven't been across the borders for a GRS. But you might want to look here. It's has eliminated cost and reviews for surgeries.
