I have my first therapist appointment later this morning and I have to admit I'm scared.  I'm also feeling a little silly at my age although I know that people older have transitioned and I'm only three months older than Caitlyn Jenner (and a hundred million poorer).

I was very nervous, too, before my first appointment. My experience was very positive. I found that being honest and being yourself, made it very easy. Gender therapists, and good therapists in general, know how to make you feel comfortable in what can be a very uncomfortable situation. They are there for you! The therapist will lead the way. You have your goals, share them.  Let your 'inner woman' shine. Time seems to fly by in my sessions. All the Best! Let us know how it goes.

I never, ever use this phrase but Oh My God!  We talked about various things and I couldn't tell you half of them right now.  She did mention when I talked to her at the TDoR service she knew something was wrong. But anyway here's what Erin came up with from our session.  Even when I was young, I put people in front of me by taking care of my brothers and their needs while my parents worked.  Early in our marriage I put my wife's needs in front of my own and then both my wife and child.  When our son went off to college, I put my wife's needs alone back to the forefront.  When my mother began developing dementia I took care of her and my disabled middle brother for eight years in her home rather than put her in a nursing home.  Now that my mother and brother are gone, she said it's time I put me in front of everyone else.  So she's getting me the name of a surgeon here who, with a letter, will perform an orchiectomy since at my age she doesn't see fooling with androgen blockers and she's willing to write the letter.  She also gave me the name of two endocrinologists and she will write my letter for HRT.  Erin said normally she sees someone at least three times before she will write a HRT letter but like she pointed out those are people she hasn't known for fifteen years.  I don't think euphoria is a strong enough word for what I'm feeling right now!!!!!!!!!
