Welcome to Susan't Place. I started my transition about 1974 and while I was pretty early, I wasn't the first. There were enough of us around that I could receive the help I needed from others. Susan's could have saved me 5 years of therapy and moved my surgical date way up but the internet didn't exist and finding information was hit or miss. Sadly a miss ended up costing time and money. Now you have found us, fell free to ask any questions you might have and we will do our best to answer them.

yeah ok sure :0

most of my fears about being transitioned are so severe that i can barely let myself think about them, and i also don't think it's helpful to because i'm solving the problems the best way i possibly can by taking the meds that i am! my last relationship was abusive, and delayed my transition for 4 years. if i'm not mindful about my thoughts then she still wins every day, so i have to remember instead that these little pills really are a godsend and i'll be just fine eventually.

idk if this is tmi or not, but i'm on a starter dose of estradiol and spiro (exact doses are not allowed right?), so far my breasts and hips have filled in dramatically, my face shape is adjusting, and i'm constantly really really cold! i have my fingers crossed i have my mom's genes and i'll soon be nice and soft all over :3

rn my primary antagonist is the facial and body hair i got from my scraggly dad. i'm trying to time electrolysis right with my hrt so i can get it done soon and effectively.

You should check out laser hair removal. It won't work for everybody but it can greatly reduce the amount of electrolyses you have to undergo and it's much cheaper and faster. I didn't have the laser option and it took forever to remove the small amount of hair I had.

Test results are permitted but dosage isn't. As for the cold, sorry about that. T causes your body to run at a faster rate burning off calories and as the spiro eliminate the T, you become more sensitive to the cold. You also have the same problem as you age and I find I consume far less food than I did as a Teen.

The pills may reduce what you feel but they may not totally eliminate it You need to continue therapy and alter your life to find a place where you are completely comfortable with yourself. I reached that point after surgery and have not felt the discomfort in over 33 years.

hey yeah, thanks :0

laser hair removal's nice if you can manage it, but i've heard bad things about lasers and melanin. as for therapy, yeah, i'm doing better with dbt every week, and my life is improving all the time. even when it's bad it's still better than before. i will soon be enabled to live my life and i have these pills to thank for it, since without them it wouldn't matter how much positive thinking i practice.

Hi Julie, I've just joined too! So welcome from a total n00b.

I just wanted to say I've been on anti-depressants a few times in my life and both times it's taken at least 2 months to reach full potency. In once case I needed to increase my dose. I was very lucky in that the first SSRI I took worked really well with minimal side-effects (other than going totally bonkers for the first two weeks), however it doesn't always work that way. There are a lot of different anti-depressants... some will work for you, some won't. Make the relationship with your doctor important and tell them what you're going through. If you feel they don't care about you personally - look for a GP who does.

For me it's been 5 months since I worked out I'm transgender... I'm waiting for my first appointment for hormone therapy (and sooo envious you've started!  :D ). A few months ago it was too overwhelming for me to think about anything long-term so I just thought about "what's on for today" and that got me through...

Welcome to the family, Julie.

My sex drive bottomed out but that is probably a good thing.  It is down to my wife and a couple of very select.
guys !

You might go through a little depression and if it gets bad enough we have excellent resources here that can be a lifesaver.  Otherwise it sounds like you're chuggin' along!

On a side note yes, do be careful on what you say even if you write it with good intentions.  Trust me, I know  :-)

Be safe :-)
