130 respond to open transgender casting call for "Southern Comfort"

http://planettransgender.com/130-respond-to-open-transgender-casting-call-for-southern-comfort/

Planet Transgender/Added by Kelli Busey on December 20, 2015.

"Based on Kate Davis'  2001 Sundance Award-winning documentary, SOUTHERN COMFORT tells the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia. Southern Comfort is folk and bluegrass inspired musical, a celebration redefining family and choosing love over every obstacle."

Miss Dee just said we are going to have to go see this.  To show you what Robert was like, I walked over to where he and Lola were sitting at his last Southern Comfort.  He looked at me and said, "Miss Beverly you sure look pretty tonight."  I laughed and said, "Oh Robert, you say that to all the girls."  He just smiled and said, "I know."  He was an old fashioned southern gentleman!  I still miss him.

If you watch the clip at the bottom of the news article, Robert is talking about how he can't hate the more than one dozen doctors who refused to treat him because they thought having a transman in their waiting room would make other patients uncomfortable and harm their practice.

Discrimination still exists, but just 15-20 years ago it was difficult to find physicians willing to treat trans people; and the Harry Benjamin Standards of Care was in place and followed to the letter, so it was much more difficult to transition back then.
