I am hoping to have my ffs with dr. Zukowski sometime in June, recently I have been more and more worried about my surgery being botched and my face being permanently disfigured! How likely is it that disfigurement will happen?

Unfortunately every form of surgery comes with risks. I guess the chances of things going OK are reasonable, if there were more botched jobs then the industry would die out.

But you get what you pay for, if it is cheap and in a country where there is not much regulation then the risks are undoubtedly higher.

Have you spoken with them about the risk factors for the types of surgery you are having?

Sure there are risks with any surgery but it's vital to reduce those risks as much as possible by getting as much information from other people who have had surgery with various surgeons.

Are you generally at a point where you feel stressed and this might additionally contribute ?

I'd say listen to your intuition and try to reach a point where you feel comfortable.

Its possible you consiously or subconsciously registered something that is off.

-do you feel not well advised ?

-are you not really happy with what procedures are agreed upon ?

-what would help you get a better feeling ?
another talk... fewer procedures... another surgeon... etc ?

You might take a sheet of paper and a pencil... and simply write down a few thoughts... what you feel... what you fear... and also what you hope for...

As the other posters said, there are always going to be risks because accidents happen and nobody is perfect. But you can't live your life always worrying about potential problems. You could get into a car accident on the way down there and end up much worse off.

Speak to your doctor if you are concerned and ask if you have any abnormally high risk for complications. They should tell you right away whether they're confident you're an easy fix or a bit tougher to operate on.

If that still bothers you, then trust your heart, but I'm sure everything will be fine as long as you've done your research and thought about your decision carefully.
