Did any of you get an orchiectomy without any therapist letters? If so, then what exactly are the names of the doctors who performed your orchiectomies? After all, I myself am certainly personally curious in this information. :)

There's another couple of approaches, not sure if you've asked about them yet. Some therapists are more willing to write letters than others, and some countries are a lot easier.

Some psych's are difficult and some are easier. There's apparently some psych's that will write SRS letters without too much hassle, and in particular Internet based ones.

There's also some countries where the rules are more "flexible". Thailand for example. It was only in 2008 when they stopped orchi's on minors.

Someone posted a list of Thai surgeons and their costs for this recently.

Just because the rules say you have to go through all this process, it doesn't always mean its difficult or even true. I was looking into how to get SRS without presenting female, and as everyone knows that impossible. Only its not. An orchiectomy should be quite easy in comparison (I am however very capable of getting things done and have sufficient money - I'm not sure how' you'd go if you had problems in either of those area's).

This my suggestion, run a search for doctors in google and other websites. Go to their websites and look for their e-mails or a way to contact them. Then write them an e-mail explaining what you want and why. Be detailed about it. Such as how long you have been on hormones and so on. Make it short but to the point. Then ask about what the doctor what he would need to do the surgery. Would he want letters form a therapist, the doctor administering the HRT, or what?

It worked for me. I found two doctors willing to operate on me to remove my gonads. Now my case is very different for me than yours. I am not a transsexual but an intersex person.

I was born with ambiguous genitals. I developed as a female but was place on male hormones when I was 15 to change me from female to male. They even performed two surgeries on me when I was 15, one more a dew years later, again a years after. I was also diagnosed with chronic inflammation and cysts.

Doctors in the US were giving me a hard time about removing them so I wrote to Mexican doctors and like I said, I found two willing to do the surgery. One even donated his time. Then he wrote me back and told me that he had asked the anesthesiologist and OR nurses and they were willing to donate their services as well. I only had to pay the Hospital for the OR, which was 2,000 dollars.

But I then found another doctor who would do it for 1,600 dollars. He even performs SRS without letters from therapist. At least that was my impression based on what he told me. He told me that he understands transsexual people and he understands that these are people with dysphoria and they need the surgery. Not every one has the money to be going to therapists for years. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that he would do the surgery on just about anyone that walks in from the street. You must look like you really are who you say you are, a transsexual person.

I can't share his name or location because I would have to ask him first. I don't want him to become a target for the political correct idiots who push doctors into complying with the controlling establishment. I'm talking about the WPATH bull. Which to me as a scientist makes no sense. These people contradict what they preach.

Just wanted to suggest the idea of writing to doctors to ask them what they would require in the form of letters, if any. I assume that you have been seeing a psychological therapist for a while. Ask  your therapist if she/he would be willing to give you a letter. Make sure you explain to the therapist that you are seeking only an orchiectomy and not full SRS for the moment and explain to the therapist the benefits of having an orchi. If she/he agrees, point that out to the doctor in your e-mail.

Even though I am a biologist, I also was a paramedic for nearly ten years. It never stops amazing me how people expect doctors to know everything. These are people who either never ask for what they want, don't present a good argument to support their request, or ask but take a no for an answer without questioning the reasons behind the denial. My best advice to my patients was to educate themselves about their conditions. Do A LOT of research and when you go see a doctor, be prepare with knowledge. As an intersex person I am used to dealing with doctors who don't understand DSD (Disorders of Sex Development, formally called intersex) conditions but try to act like they do. I've saved myself lots of grieve by being able to defend myself. I've also gotten the treatments I wanted rather than the one they initially suggested.

Good luck!
