When I woke up, I was starving. I felt very little pain. Had no nausea. My issue is my legs. They feel as if they are on fire. rectus femoris and vastus lateralis muscles. Only like this when I am lying down... So I am usually walking or standing for long periods of time. Started walking around within hours of the operation and made my surgeon most pleased.

Other than this, it was an excellent surgery, quite easy, and well within my pain threshold. Need help finding a way to deal with this odd sensation on both legs.

On phone, computer puts me in an awkward position in order to type and I find that even more uncomfortable than this. Will tell more once I find my comfort zone.

Any chance you exercise a lot? I read an account of someone who did and had a lot of muscle pain post-op.

I'll PM it to you if this might be the case. I don't think I can post it here.

Yes I do. According to the bmi chart I am obese. I weigh in at 250, drive trucks, and unload a trailer by hand every day delivering to orchard supply stores. It's enough to keep most people in shape lifting and pulling at least 100 pounds at a time. For me, it kept me in top shape. Outside of that, I hike, bike, run, and climb on weekends. So yeah, I suppose that could be the issue at hand. I am a very active person and I enjoy it immensely.

Can you elaborate on that a bit? For the benefit of people reading this in the future.

Your post about "legs on fire" reminded me of my experience 30 years ago.  I had that problem also ... But it was more my lower legs.  I asked the doctor about it at a follow-up exam, (I had two doctors at the time), and they both said it was probably because they had my feet up in the stirrups for such a long time .... About 5 hours in my case, and the nerves in my legs were a bit traumatized by being in that position for so long.  "It shall pass" they said.  Well it did, but it took a while.  Several months as I recall.  It bothered me mostly at night while trying to sleep, but I found that if I took some pain reliever at bed time it helped.
It took a lot of doing, but I take a lot of pride in what I am.
