A HUGE Victory for Me (so happy)

Hi Everyone,

I really want to exclaim about something I was notified about last night that not only serves as a giant milestone within my life, but also as an indicator that universities are moving towards accommodating trans people.

That is that my university housing office emailed me to inform me that I will be living among cis women, will have a cis-female roommate, and the information that I used to be male won't be revealed to them (or even my residential assistant) so that I will feel as comfortable as possible in the residence halls.

This presented itself after filling out a housing application and listing that my sex is male but that I'm pretty much fully assimilated as a female -- only to experience them initially assigning me to male living quarters.

Out of concern for my safety (and clearly being disrespected), my dad pretty much threw a fit, professionally contacted them, and also sent them photos of me to serve as evidence that I'm clearly a woman and that my safety is at risk.

It's a huge victory for me, and again, it speaks to how society is moving forward, as when they discerned that I'm living as female, they practically moved mountains to ensure that I'm comfortable. I suspect that it will be a good experience and that I won't get clocked or anything, as I've entered various social situations in the last few months in which I was being perceived as a cis woman. I even came out to a friend recently, and she basically flinched, took a step back, looked me up and down, and said, "Really??" And, like we're still friends, so I have high hopes. <3
