Some lawmakers say the rules pose safety and privacy concerns
Supporters say the rules are in line with a law approved in 2006The debate over allowing transgender individuals to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity has moved from local YMCAs to the state Capitol.
Several Republican lawmakers want to rein in Washington state's new rules that say businesses and public entities must let transgender people use facilities consistent with the gender they identify with, regardless of whether they've undergone sex reassignment surgery.

Aaargh- They just don't get it. Access to the proper restroom is important for the pre-op/non-op transgender for their safety. It's the early in transition folks who are in more danger. The first time out MtF who goes into a men's room is more likely to get the stuffings beat out of her or worse, or the trans-man going into a women's room.
People should be able to use the restroom of the gender they're presenting. Most womens' rooms have private stalls so no one is going to know what's between their legs anyway. A pre-op, Buck Angel looking type trans-man is going to be a lot less disruptive than using the ladies room. They just don't get it! JMHO
