I've been watching some hypnosis videos recently and this is just a thought that came to my mind:  Can hypnosis make your mind match the body that you were born with and be happy afterwards? Now I personally wouldn't even consider this an option for my own reasons...but did anyone think about this sort of thing before?  Just wondering thats all.

Hum, it might but I don't think that it would be health for anyone in the long run. All it would do is to mask the problems, which would still be there, and eventually I believe it might lead one to have other problems due to the untreated gender identity problems.

That is just my opinion on the topic...

Peace and love,

Hi

Hypnosis cannot change who you are. It cannot make you behave in ways that you wouldn't normally behave in. It merely breaks down the resistance to suggestions. Not too many years ago, hypnosis was tried on crossdressers, as was aversion therapy.  It didn't work. You are who your spirit tells you you are. Not the body and not the mind.

Hi Steph, now I am kind of confused about something...How do I know what my spirit is telling me?   If my mind says I am a boy, that isn't enough?..

Hi OtokoSuki

That's a good question. Well we all know that the body lies about such things, after all, that is the reason why we are all here. The mind is really a tool of the spirit incarnate. It is not who you are. It works using logic and experience which is why there tends to be so much confusion in TG folk. Whenever you are calm and at peace and are not being bombarded with the problems of day to day life, just sit quietly and listen to what your heart is telling you about who you really are. Then you will know.

Exactly. Hypnosis is about suggestion, and it doesn't change who you are.

Hypnosis can be a good tool in your therapist's tool chest to help. I view it as an alternative approach in pursuing a therapeutic goal. Don't look at it as a magical means to resolve your dissatisfaction with yourself. It can help with you seeing yourself as a worthy, attractive human being. Talk to your therapist about it. If you are interested, check out therapists with qualifications in it. Good place to start is the qualifying organizations: Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. They have websites. Good luck!

Hi OtokoSuki

GID is not just psychological it is for the most part the wiring of our brain. No hypnoses would be able to change that fact. A good hypnotist may be able to fool our minds to thinking that we are something else then what we are for a short time but these memories of a GID nature are as deep seated from all the way back to birth, or maybe even conception. It has been assessed as the possibility to be of a genetic nature. One can't change the codes that are of a genetic makeup with hypnosis. Now this is my own opinion from what I know about our own characteristics.
