Hi,

You are correct, you aren't getting many replies.  In reality, I don't get many either.  My questions seem to be either easy to answer (so one or two replies cover it) or they tend to be really complicated so that end up clarifying.

In general, post that have a lot of replies are provocative, controversial or have conversations going on in them.  Your post on estrogen could have gone conversational if you had asked more questions.

In general, it's not the quantity of replies, it's the quality.  In that respect, you've done OK.

If we have helped, stick around.  If you want conversation, try cat or reply more.  Bit I do beleive, having successfully transitioned, more questions will come up.

Hugs

Jen
To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

I didn't get many replies either when I first started. I'm not sure why I stuck around, but its grown on me. Its a bit discouraging being ignored.

I decided it was was a combination of the way I write, which tends to be a bit dry and factual (i.e. boring), and that people didn't know me yet. I worked on my writing, and just kept going. I won't say get a huge number of responses but its enough to keep me engaged.

Compared to other forums there's a different type of conversation going on here, and I've found I like it. There's also a lot of good knowledge here, more so than other forums I've come across (for my purposes).

Just ask what you need to know or what you would like to understand better from or about the trans community. Questions will just be there as you transition and everyone will run into similar  problems that they'd like to figure out. There is good information on this forum. I just asked for help about my injections and got a bunch of helpful suggestions. If someone can help or needs the same info or related info they'll reply.

As a moderator, I look for post that haven't received a reply and have a question that needs answering. I often pass up post that are status updates or don't have a clear point. There are questions that I don't have a proper answer for because I don't have the knowledge or my treatment was so different it doesn't apply to the question asked.

People get tired of posting the same reply over and over so a Google search of Susan's may answer your question without posting. When possible, I like to link to an area or a thread that will help a person, but as much reading as I do, there are many old thread that I have never seen. At times, I can barely keep up with the new post that are being generated.

Another issue is the time of the post. The afternoon server time on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will give your question the most views. I have seen posts made in the middle of the night receive few if any post. It's kind of an art form posing the proper question but if you look at a few of the high post count threads, you may get a feel for how to word your question.

It happens to all of us. It doesn't bother me as much the further I get in transition and I've come to realize why based on my own behavior on here. Sometimes I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. Sometimes I have no idea what to say. Sometimes I have no experience with the topic, but I still find it interesting, so you'll see my name saying I'm reading it, but then get nothing from me. Sometimes the post may be during prime time for you, but I'm asleep or working. And yes, sometimes the posts are so long that I can't make it through the whole thing and don't want to comment based on half of the information. I'm guilty of the long posts myself. And sometimes, like this thread, I read it once and have no comment, then read it again after others comment and find I do have something to add.

I also only come here for about an hour a day, maybe. The same may be true of others. I was finding that the forums were getting me so excited about transitioning, that I would start moving faster than I should, so I limited my intake. There are hundreds of new posts across all forums daily here and I only hit the first 1-3 pages of new posts at the time I check, so if yours isn't recent to my check, I won't see it.
