Virginia GOP bill would require schools to verify children's genitals before using

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/01/virginia-gop-bill-would-require-schools-to-verify-childrens-genitals-before-using-restroom/

Raw Story/David Edwards 12 Jan 2016 at 15:06 ET

"A bill filed by a Virginia lawmaker this week would require schools to be certain that children are using the restroom corresponding to their "correct anatomical sex."

The legislation, which would prohibit transgender students from using the bathroom matching their gender, is being sponsored by Republican Del. Mark Cole. "

Here we go again with the Republicans and their underwear inspectors!

That should be considered child abuse, possibly even sexual assault.

Who would have the nerve to apply for the job of "genital inspector"? Anyone who did it voluntarily would be instantly suspected of being a paedophile.

Bernie is looking better and better as a candidate. I'm thinking of pulling a Franklin Graham and dumping the Republican Party. It seems they're becoming obsessed with genitals. What are they going to do? Create the "johnson" police and "johnson" inspectors? Sheesh. GIVE IT UP ALREADY and let people "PEE IN PEACE!" (Rant over)

This is just going too far - inspecting kid's genitals? Who is the pervert here?  >:(

What is the GOPs fascination with genitals anyway? That's all they seem to focus on these days. The economy is in shambles and people can't find jobs and we are teetering on the brink of war in various places - but the GOPs main concern is genitals?

I hope this politician gets removed from office for promoting this ridiculous bill.

I believe that we will see this guy in the news again someday - I think he's got secrets.

This IS becoming ridiculous. As I posted the other day Jim Tomes of Indiana introduced similar legislation.  Here's another update from Pink News.

Indiana bill would charge trans people $5,000 to go to the toilet

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/01/12/indiana-bill-would-charge-trans-people-5000-to-go-to-the-bathroom/

Time to start posting Buck Angel's PSA all over and asking these politicians if they want "her" (intentional misgendering for these bigots sake) and asking if they want their daughters peeing next to him?

And time for Department of Education to tell all these states, counties and all others that passing these bills will stop the flow of Federal Education dollars!

And I'm now officially switching from Trump to Bernie in 2016.

Here's the bill, I can't see any mention of "genital inspectors" in the wording.

Maybe not, but if no one is going to look then how will it be enforced?

Medical records? I really don't know, but speculating that people will be looking in children's pants is probably less than helpful!

Over here, disclosing people's medical records is a criminal offence. Maybe it is different where you are?

I said I wasn't sure, however I do know that looking at children's genitals is a criminal offense over here.

Medical records are no guide anyway. I had an "F" in my medical records for 3 years and a one-eyed-trouser-snake in my underwear at the same time. If anyone used my medical records to "vet" me they would have to conclude I had female genitalia.

I cannot see any way to make this legislation work unless somebody actually looks and if that is illegal then this bill is simply a waste of time.

Certain aspects of our medical history are not sacrosanct. For example, vaccination histories for incoming schoolchildren. Schools still vet vaccination histories in the U.S., don't they?

When I was starting at a new school, I remember a form that we filled out, but I'm not sure what else my mother had to do.

Virginia Bill Would Charge Transgender Students At The Bathroom Door

http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2016/01/13/3738928/virginia-transgender-student-fine-bathroom/

Thinkprogress/ by Zack Ford Jan 13, 2016 12:41 pm

"Numerous attempts to restrict where transgender people can use the restroom have been proposed in recent years, but one Virginia lawmaker's latest legislation might be the most vicious. He actually wants to fine transgender children $50 if they use what he deems to be the "wrong" restroom."

I respectfully disagree that such speculation is less than helpful.  The bathroom bills brigade have been harping on about sex predators posing as trans,  and men in the ladies room and even us being the predators, and they have been doing it for years now and they are winning the debate while we protest their claims are just not true, just take a look at HERO.  FINALLY they are being hit back with equally emotional and hard hitting propaganda on these bathroom bills.    The bill may not say they will have a panty inspection but telling mom its what the bill means hits just as hard if not harder than the blows against us, as its not just possible encounters with trans people or predators,  but rather sanctioned perving by authority and is the only logical way to enforce the ridiculous laws.

Its effectiveness can clearly be seen by the reaction not only here, but this article has made it all the way to a UK general discussion forum i read, ok it hasn't had much discussion but the fact it was posted at all and with a WTF comment speaks volumes to me.

I say we need more of this type of emotional arguments in response to these bills, pretty girls by urinals and Buck angel in front of a row of stalls make sense to us but doesn't speak to mom and pop, panty police in their kids school does.

The above are really good points.  I read the comments from the article in the OP this morning and the Republicans have become a laughingstock.  Where facts won't work maybe derision and ridicule will.

I'm assuming the enforcement of this (if it goes through) would be achieved by mandating that your restroom choice matches the sex on your birth certificate, not a revealing of your genitals at the door of said restroom. I stand by my words. I don't think emotionally charged speculation will solve anything.
